Hi!

I recently lost my Ego-T based e-cig in a, uhm, "pool incident" :glare:, so I'm looking for a new one. To my surprise, I tried a few disposable ones (Blu Cig and Supersmoker) and found them many times better (more flavour, thicker vapour, harder/nicer throat hit) than any of my Ego-T's with any liquid I had tried before. So maybe my device was defective or my liquids were crap... I don't know. The problem with the disposables is that they are way to expensive.

So I'm looking to upgrade. Where can I get the strength disposable from a refillable e-cig?

Just my opinion, but buy a Reos mod. They aren't cheap, but you can sell it for about what you pay for it on the used market. Reliability, flavor, etc are all built in.

The OP's experience isn't uncommon, same thing happened to me. I bought my first ecig at a mall kiosk, Supreme Nicotine.com. They had more than a dozen ecigs to test out, and each time the cig-alike's tasted the best. I ended up getting an ego-c starter kit & have regretted the decision ever since, due to performance issues.

Will check them out, thanks.

I was just surprised about how much better the disposables were. I've only had a good experience with the Ego-T with one specific liquid called Straight Rum from the USA. All the other liquids I ordered were bad to mediocre with my Vision 2.0/Ego-T combo.

And yeah, those mall kiosks rip you off if you ask me. When I didn't know anything about e-cigs, they sold me a piece of crap for $75 (!), a refillable cigarette style thing that broke within a few weeks. I want to find a high-quality, permanent one that will continue to please me without bleeding me dry for carts or having me buy disposables again and again!

It's a nasty & expensive merry go round!

I initially paid $125 for my joyetech starter kit....nothing joy-ful about it.

If you want the best, but maybe don't intend to vape forever, get a reliable mod like a Reo. I just bought a VV Grand & luv it, but I'll be done with vaping in a few months & won't lose much $ on the deal when I post it in the classifieds...maybe $30.

How much has joyetech cost me through all this? Lets not go there!!!

This industry is not mature yet, if you couldn't tell. Lots of BS, nonsense & outdated tech. :2c:

The Reo + a rebuildable atomizer changed how I vape, made it enjoyable & straightforward, plus it tastes healthy now...no more dry or bad hits.

One thing I learned early on is that hardware issues are often to blame. From the start I was buying expensive USA made juice, from supreme nicotine, velvet cloud vapor, aroma ejuice, etc. I could not taste the juices with ego/joyetech/vivi nova hardware....everything tasted like a robot fart or worse.

Now that my hardware issues are resolved, I'm loving how flavorful the juices are.

If you like the cig-a-likes you could look at the Volt. I have not tried one myself but I have seen good things about them on the forum. If you don't want something like that and the eGo style wasn't working then you are going to want to step up into something bigger. There are a ton of options from a Reo, Zmax, eVic, ProVari, etc. The list goes on and on. Each has their own pros and cons and I would suggest doing your homework before investing that much money. Once you find the perfect mod for you then you will be in vape heaven.

It really sounds like you had a problem with your liquid to me though. Before you drop a ton of money on an e-cig you might want to replace your eGo and try some new juices. It took me a short amount of time to find juices that worked for me so I was lucky. Sometimes the problem is not the PV but the juice. Just my two pence.

+1 on the REO it is the answer to all the fiddling around with your gear and is damn near indestructible.

The ones I've seen don't look like much, though. I know it's more important that they work right, but the ones I saw looked like home-made DIY things. Maybe I just haven't seen all that they offer yet.

It wasn't so much a problem that the eGo style wasn't working for me, but it was just flaky. It would work well some of the time, and then it would work... less well. It was greatly dependent on liquid, like I said, so maybe you're right. Maybe some liquids don't work too well with some e-cigs. The Straight Rum one was very thick, I think 70% VG, 30% PG, so maybe I should shoot for something like that. But even when it worked best, the disposable ones were even better and that just doesn't sit right with me. I want that much flavour and vapour from a proper e-cig!

Thanks, I'll try. If I can find my trouble-free, tasty vaping gear, I'd be happy and won't have to bum cigarettes anymore when I go out drinking!

They are definitely simple but you won't be machining blocks of aluminum this perfect at home :). There are definitely flashier devices out there but if you get to the point that I did I just wanted to throw my PV in my pocket and be good to go for a day, it more than accomplished this for me. Highly recommend checking out the sub forum as there are many really knowledgeable and cool people there including the man himself. GL with whatever you go with :D

Some of you need to get off your high horse and stop ... kissing these big devices and shi..t.ting on those that use mini ecigs/disposables.

As long as people are vaping and not smoking who cares! Be happy for them and stop treating vaping like its some damn religion.

I don't think anybody was ....ting on anyone using disposables, really... except that they are much, much more expensive than those "big devices." They run out quickly and replacing them or carts is many times more expensive than buying new some liquid. That's pretty much the only complaint I have against them.

Are we talking about the same thread here? A couple of nods for a reo, and people are getting $*&^ on?

Expensive is right. My wife and were spending close to $50 a week buying "disposable" 808 cartomizers prefilled at our local gas station....down from the usual $450 a month for cigs, so we were fine with that but the batteries were garbage. So, we took that money and invested in good mods juice, and tanks...and they've already paid for themselves in savings in a couple months.

Wish I'd had ecf last year. I could have used good advice before throwing all that money away.

I have an ego-c and its much better than the ego-t. I would use a higher nic juice in it though, like 24mg for a nice solid punch, and make sure your juice is a little thicker. Depending where you order it should be right around 50/50 ratio at thinnest. Some places run thicker than others, i use wordupecig jeffs vape, basically tobacco, and red full, and they work best at 70pg/30vg, but they are very syrupy.

If you really just like the cigalike feel, it sounds like you enjoy kr808 style, which can be bought as non disposables. A few good ones are Volt and V2. I was using them for a while but im using an Eroll and Ego-C now. Im a big fan of the newer style joy atties

To me, it seems like most go through the same experience you and your wife did. Maybe some folks had some good advice before getting started and skipped right to a decent device. For me, I started with the cig a likes and was good for a few months. Then the quest for something more practical led me here. I could have saved money by not doing the smaller ecig stuff. But for most people, I would think it's a natural progression to first have something that resembles what they are so used to after all those years of smoking. Then quitting with it...then wanting something they have to mess with less to get through the day. Although, after three years I still enjoy some regular 808 batteries when I want something small to carry in my pocket...I say try all the stuff you can afford! I say this because having backups is a necessity. The last thing you want is to quit smoking, and then have equipment failure. Trust me. It makes for a long wait for that mail to come in lol

Yes! That was my experience, too! The only liquid that actually work well was the American Straight Rum (I'm European, so long delivery times, sigh) and it was very syrupy to the point it took a while to refill and let the juice drip down. Thanks for the suggestions, I will look into them.

Sometimes the thicker liquids don't wick well in clearos. From my understanding they do much better in a carto. I don't use cartos so I am not sure about that but I have seen varying degrees of success with high VG liquids in clearos. I would maybe focus on the juice for a bit to see if that helps. Might be better to drop some cash on juice and find out that what you have is what you want rather than buying some expensive mod only to find out it still doesn't do it for you.

As I said, the thicker liquid actually worked best of all in my Clearomizer/eGo-T. The other liquids were much thinner and didn't give me satisfactory results. And I lost my eGo-T in the pool, so I need to buy a new one, anyway. For now, I ordered a bunch of disposables, so I'm still looking for a good permanent one. I was looking at the eGo-C, but there seem to be complaints about both the eGo-T and eGo-C equally... maybe slightly less so for the eGo-C. And it's not one of the cheaper ones, either.

So maybe just go for a Reo, looks be damned?
