I don't think I'd recommend a Joye 510, to be honest. I started with that e-cig, and it isn't terrible, but there are a lot of better options nowadays. The Joye's battery just doesn't have the power you need and it doesn't last. I got so sick of charging batteries all the time, I had collected 6 batteries and was buying an upgrade within a month.

If you absolutely must have an e-cig that's the size of a cigarette, there are only a few that are worth using. The best one, IMO and the opinion of most people here, is the Volt by SmokelessImage.com. It's the best of an otherwise poor performing class of e-cigs. The service is great, the juice is good, the battery is decent and the price is fair. There is a promotion right now for something like 20% off with a coupon code that you can find around here if you ask.

Rule of thumb: The more an e-cig looks like a cigarette, the worse it performs.

If you can deal with something the size of a Sharpie marker, you'll be much better off and I'd suggest the kGo. The battery will last all day for most people. It's 1100mah, which is about 3 times the capacity of a cig-sized battery. It will accept many different juice delivery systems and it's probably the most popular mid-sized model available for new vapers.
It uses re-fillable cartridges (cartomizers), so it's economical to use. Unlike the similar looking eGo e-cigs, the kGo is 3.7 volts, which results in a better vapor than the 3.3-3.4 volts of most eGo models.

A lot of vendors sell the kGo. This is one that has a good reputation:
KGO

There is another unit that the same site sells, called the e-Power. It is nearly identical, but it takes separate batteries. In the long run, it's more economical because when the battery wears out, you can replace it for $5 instead of buying a whole new kGo battery for $15-20

SweetVapes (the link that Sailorman provided) has a 15% off coupon right now. With that coupon, those KGO kits there are a steal at about $37.50. You want the 1100mah batteries. I'm thinking about ordering one just to have a couple of backup batteries. The batteries alone usually sell for about $17 each.

Here's the one I would recommend: http://www.sweet-vapes.com/shop?page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_color_plus.tpl&product_id=1033&category_id=31

Besides the two batteries and the charger, it include a nice case (that usually costs $10 - $12, and I use mine a lot) plus two clearomizers that usually cost around $5.00 each. All you would really want to order besides that would be a few drip tips, one or two 5-packs of Smok-Tech XL LR 1.7ohm cartomizers or Boge 2.0ohm LR cartomizers, and some juice.

I don't know what the coupon code is for sweet-vapes. I can never find coupon codes when I need them, nevermind when someone else need them, lol.

The best deal for the e-power is at CCV. I don't know if there's a coupon code, but it comes with some nice extras, 30ml of juice and free priority shipping. IMO, you're better off getting a kit with atomizers. Atomizer are more expensive than cartomizers or those clearomizers. You need atomizers to test juice and as backups, so you're going to end up buying them anyway. Better to get them in the kit and buy cartomizers or clearomizers separately.

If you go long periods away from a charger, separate batteries are the way to go. You can carry a handful of batteries easier than a handful of kGos. The switch is also replaceable, so if it fails, you don't have to throw the whole e-cig away.

Here's the e-Power link. They also have the best deals on 15 or fewer cartos.
You'll want 1.7 or 2.0hm SINGLE COIL cartos.

You cant go wrong with an ego. it gives you the most options, with a much better battery life then a 510. Some stores have a ego(pass through) starter kit for $30.

Sure you can. 3.4V compared to the epower an kgo's 3.7V.
650mah, compared to 1100mah.
One battery for $30 compared to two for $45.
Disposable vs repairable.
Yeah, you can go wrong, even if you don't make the blunder of the T or C.
The 1000mah, 3.7V eGo W is the only fixed voltage eGo worth looking at.
But only if you can get if for less than a kGo cartomizer kit.
