Hi,
I'm new to vaping and would love to have some suggestions re: a problem I'm having. I'm using 36 mg tobacco cut in half w/Wilton's glycerine. What I've noitced is that when I vape, on exhale, there is a nasty taste in the back of my tongue and throat like I just licked an ashtray with that kind of burn that you get when you inhale an alalog and choke. I don't want to cut the throat hit, but the taste is disgusting. Any suggestions??

New atomizers come with primer fluid on them, to keep them from drying out during shipping. Unless you rinse the primer off, the first few drags you take from a new atomizer are usually disgusting - nasty plastic/chemical taste with a bad throat burn. It goes away after you burn all the primer off.

You could also have a dry cartridge, in which case you're actually burning your cartridge filler when you vape, which also causes a nasty taste.

Or it could be the liquid - I have some juice that leaves a very perfumey/chemical aftertaste as well (although it doesn't cause throat burn)...

What's the brand of the 36mg tobacco liquid? Have you tried vaping it uncut, and if so, did you get that bad taste?

In my limited experience with mixing tobacco absolute, an "ashtray" taste is usually caused from too much tobacco flavor. Doesn't sound like that applies to your situation because you cut it with glycerin, so that seems to leave the quality of the tobacco liquid as the reason for the problem.

Did you add any alcohol to thin the mixture? Alcohol gives a stronger throat hit.

I initially started with the ejuice uncut, but wanted to dilute it some due to the nasty taste and the level of nicotine being more than what I felt was needed. As far as the atomizer is concerned, it's been about 2 weeks, so it's not that it's new. I have blown my atomizers out as well as used the pepsi method of soaking, rinsing in hot water and drying out. Also cleaned the filters. I guess that leaves the juice as the cultprit. Anyhone have any suggestions for smooth ejuice? Thanks for all of the responses!!

Hmm... that's odd.

I still feel like you may have a problem with your cartridges being too dry. Have you tried dripping without a cartridge? (Put 2 or 3 drops of liquid directly on your atomizer, with an empty mouthpiece.) If the aftertaste goes away, then you've got a cartridge problem.

I would also check the bridge of your atty to make sure you don't have any stray pieces of cartridge filler stuck to it. These can burn and cause the aftertaste as well.

As far as juice... in my (limited) experience, if a juice tastes nasty, it also SMELLS nasty. Does the smell of your juice bother you at all? Some people here (myself included) have had aftertaste problems with particular brands of liquid. For me it's the DeKang brand, I can't stand the smell or taste of the stuff. If that's the case for you as well, you may want to look into some of the US-manufactured liquid, or think about making your own juice from an unflavored base...
