Hopefully I am not the only one that doesn't care for sub ohm builds... I have tried a few and it is just not for me too many clouds too fast and just not enjoyable to me....

I am looking for some dual coil suggestions and single coil build suggestions for my RDAs (Atomic, Magma, and Stillare

I think I prefer 1ohm-1.5 ohm builds I guess. 8 or 9 would work too but other then wrapping 28 Guage 12 times for dual coil I am having a hard time finding a good build for these. I almost feel like using my 24 or 26 Guage is worthless to me now since I don't care for sub-ohm. anyone want to trade me a 30 Guage roll for my 24 lol

tanks and mods are getting bigger; 26650 mods are becoming more popular; within 2 years there will probably be a lot more 30 mm diameter tanks and drippers to go with those 26mm sized batteries then there'll be more room for bigger coils

single coil yah my problem is finding a non sub ohm dual coil build

Just because the RDA has spots for a dual coil setup doesn't mean you have to use it in Dual Coil mode.

If fact you would be better off using a single coil at somewhere around the 1.2-1.8 ohm range instead of trying to use 2 coils in the 2.4-3.6 range.

I think that's the problem Jd is having. If I'm doing correctly he'd have to wrap coils to come out about .9-1.0 to get into the 1.8-2.0 range. .9x2=1.8,right? But he doesn't want wrap either coil sub-ohm.

I'm not sure that this is correct, just throwing it out there. If I'm wrong I apologize in advance.

get a REO, get a reo mizer

wrap 28guage kanthal, 7 times around a 15 guage needle, you will arrive a 1.25 ohms, the reo is a bottom fed device meaning you can drip without all the associated hassle

yes this is a single coil build, but you do not need more than a single coil

watch super x's video on youtube as necessary

you are welcome

Run in series the ohms are the sum of both. Run in parallel with both coils having the same resistance the ohms are half, two 2.4 ohm coils would be 1.2 ohms total the APV would see. Or for dissimilar ohm coils you add the ohms from coil one to coil 2 and divide by 4, 2.4 + 2.8 = 5.2 / 4 = 1.3. But using two dissimilar ohm coils causes other problems.

As already pointed out you have it backwards.

Definitely tougher to build a 1.0+ ohm build with dual coil 28 gauge. If you're wanting a non-sub-ohm dual coil build, I'd recommend using 30 gauge.

Now single coil, 28 works just fine. There are a lot of RDA's that have a single airhole. The Magma is one of them. Omegas and Tridents are another. In fact, with the Trident, you actually have more airflow options in single coil mode than dual coil mode.

No....actually its the other way around. Two 3 ohm coils will yield a 1.5 ohm build, Four 3 ohm coils will yield a .75 ohm set up. You divide the resistance (ohms) of one of the indentical dual coils by 2......quad coil by 4. This is what shootist was implying.

Rats!!! I have to remember to divide. Thanks! This thread helped me too.

yep figures 30 Guage is the only one I didn't order.... I meant to... I think I'll just twist my 32 Guage for now

so basically from what I gathered if you don't like sub ohm dual coil is basically not for you and stick to single coil

You have 32 gauge? Well make dual coils with 32 gauge.
It's easy to make 3 ohm coils with 32 gauge, and 2 three ohm coils combine to 1.5 ohms.

it really is, there are many others here who can testify to this

i like you, spent a lot of money on atties, and a lot of time trying to figure out the right builds and all that...i got a REO and its just over, it works so well, tastes so good and requires so little maintenance that i've not even bought anything else after getting the reo...well except another reo
