I really don't know exactly how long my 510 batteries last, because I regularly switch them on the charger. Between the two I have, I've only drained them to blinking two or three times in almost a week, and that because I had both with me and forgot which was most recently charged.

If you can get over the LOOKS aspect, to me the 510 FEELS like a cigarette. My big decider was the mouth/hand fixation. Straight tube and lighter weight were what I needed. Not only to mimic the similarities with cigarettes, but with pens/pencils also. I could play with it in my hands, hold it in my mouth without using my hands, etc...

The tactile aspect started with pens/pencils, and after I started smoking, I picked up the same habits with the cigarette. So the 510 felt normal when I got it. Half the time, I'm not even vaping, but just playing with it.

Then that's the perfect pv for you. I really like the 510 too, you get a good vape with it. But people that vape more, get annoyed with battery changes.

i do want it to look like a cigarette actually

Almost everyone says that when they start. Very few people who are still using a vaporizer a few months later still feel that way.

It would be nice if we could get something the size and weight of a cigarette which would let us vape all day, but it simply doesn't work. Battery size (and weight) is the main limit.

Even if you make a PV small enough that the battery and cartomizer are cig sized, it's going to weigh a lot more, due to the battery and liquid. A cig has a signifigant amount of air. A battery and full cartomizer have essentially none.

And a battery that small doesn't last for long. Comparable to 5-6 cigs, maybe? That's a pretty wild guess. So you need a lot of them if you're a heavy smoker who plans to use them all day. And you need to recharge them all, regularly. That many recharges means you'll wear them out and replace them a lot.

All in all, while most people want something like that when they start, the ones that try it soon learn the disadvantages and move to a bigger battery, usually a manual. Manual means "It has a button I have to press when I want to vape". As opposed to an Automatic, which is supposed to sense when you are drawing on it and turning itself on/off automatically. The Automatics seem more natural, to people who are new and haven't actually tried them. But the manuals work out better, and almost everyone who has been doing it long uses manual batteries.

For what you say you want - small, cig sized, looks like a cig, acts like a cig, you can find something called a Blu.

Electronic Cigarette by blu E Cigarette - Starter Kit White - Starter Kits

I don't recommend them, as I don't think you'll be happy with them. I know about them because I've seen a lot of people say "I bought a Blu, and I'm not happy, so I want advice about a better PV". But if you are set on what you described instead of what has shown to be successful, that's the place to start.

I figure if you try them, sooner or later you'll be back asking for more info, and if I see your post then, I'll tell you to get an eGo with 1000 mah batteries, a few cartomizers, and a couple of atomizers and tanks.

Good luck.

A much lesser issue if you are concerned about looks (but one to at least consider), is construction material. For example, I got everything in black. Paint started flaking lightly on the rims of my attys. Now, I have a black battery, black cartridge, and one atty that is almost 1/4 shiny unpainted metal. I give it a week at the most before I have it rubbed/scraped to the point where there is no paint on the atty whatsoever, so i have this shiny silver piece between my two black pieces.

Do you ever use cartos on your 510? I bet you'd really like them.

Vaping is a way smokers get the true experience they so desire, yet preserve their health. So if aesthetics is all your interested in and looking like a cig and using the totally crappy prefilled junk, I would say your not really ready to quit analogs....and yes it is the nicotine in analogs that keeps us addicted to smoking, so having no nic in an ecig would be like an alcoholic switching to O'Dules, at least at first...some folks do cut way back on the mg of the nic juice after vaping a while, while others increase the level of nic. Just my humble opinion.

Actually, I was just reading yesterday that the less you drain the batts between charges, the more life you can get out of them.

EDIT: Found the post that started my curiosity into it...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...iscussion/213844-battery-longevity-trick.html

I read that. Great thread!

When I first started vaping someone told me to let the battery die before recharging it which I did for awhile. Then I read the opposite. That post pretty much confirms that.

I've had it since last wednesday, so I'm still VERY new to decent quality PV's (Was using a 21st Century Smoke from the gas station previously). Carto's were on my list for thursday when I get my next paycheck. Dormouse recommended Boge standard resistance to me.

I think that people that haven't vaped before think they won't get used to vaping unless it's something that looks like a cig. They think they just might not take to vaping. My mom was like that. I didn't care at all but that's how she was. She didn't stay with it very long but at least it got her vaping. Once she realized she liked vaping she got something different and quit smoking altogether. It just took her about $200 extra to get there!

Also, some of the pictures make an ego look huge. Her KR808 with XL batteries is bigger than my ego.

Good recommendation from Dormouse (of course!) Good Prophets has them on sale for $5.99. Use the code TVCfriend for 5% off.

Yes you will have to fill it the first time too. They will be blanks

Hee is how I fill them - will be easy after you do it once.

----
How I fill Vapor4Life KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos

Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18 drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges and most KR8 cartos are about 1ml).
Wait 15 seconds or so then see how many more drops the carto stuffing will soak in easily.
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges and the KR8 cartos I use have a defined center air channel and I want to see light through that)
Sop up any loose juice above the stuffing
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me (I use 20% Vg or less) then you may need to wait much longer.

While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting hotter than normal, I take the carto off the battery and add eliquid. I sometimes use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on Boge and KR8 cartos (not to drip into since the juice would head for the central air channel)

can i refill a cartomizer with that american spirit juice?

Yes. But be aware that essentially no juice really creates the exact same flavor and experience as smoking. There are juices that advertise as if they taste like Camel, Marlboro, etc. But I haven't ever had a juice that really tasted like a cigarette, and I'm told that I'll never find one.

Do try that flavor - you might like it. But you may have to try several other juices before you find what you really like. Most of the time, people new to vaping should order small amounts of juices in different flavors, and only order larger amounts after you find a flavor you know you'll like.

Just FYI if there is no nicotine, there will be no throat hit

You can buy most eliquids without nicotine

Agreed. If you want/need the "inhaled feel" of a cigarette, you won't get that with "0" nic liquid no matter what PV you use. That may not be an issue for you but it will be more like vaping air.
