SOLVED

This is also posted in Clearomizers, but no responses so try it here.

I have a brand new Davide with a brand new stock 2.5 Kanger Protank 2 head installed. This is sitting a top a Vamo V5. I am vaping a 50/50 at 5.5 watts. I have tried switching the heads(the new style with the silicone insulator instead of the of the odd old rubber ones) out and every one does this. I have changed drip tips and no change. There's the background info. Now for the question.

I keep hearing a gurgle noise. This is where it gets weird. The draw is very smooth. Doesn't matter if I draw hard, soft, in between, doesn't matter. No dry nor burnt hits. I am getting no splashing into the drip tip. I get great dense heavy flavorful plumes of vapor. I have zero leakage anywhere. Nothing on the post, nothing around any of the tank seals, nothing. No leaks at all. I know... If it gurgles, it has to have a leak somewhere right?

Any ideas why it sounds like this?

Protank? okay... 50/50 mix... your juice may be a bit thin for the Protank and it is getting a tad bit too much soak on the wicking. If you have some silica wick hanging around, you can add a little bit more wick to the coil assembly to tighten up the flow to the coil. But too much additional wick added can lead to dry burns....

not much you can do unless you have some very tiny drill bits and drill out the holes at the top of the threads on the base of the protank...

When I'm done with the juice on my Davide I was going to try the coil base plate from my Davide on the PT2. They have the adapter base rings to turn a PT2 into a BDC using aspire cils, so worst case scenario it doesn't screw on, or it does and leaks horribly.

Or you could check into an RSST tank or a Kayfun3.1 Clone ( I like the RSST since you can mess with the coil without having to empty the tank)

I have been SUPER intersted in both, but wary of a reputable supplier to order from. I would love a legit Kayfun or a Russian, but they are a tad out of my budget at the moment. Any recommendations?

Have you tried blowing into the drip tip to blow out the excess juice? Could be getting in there when you fill the tank.
A 50/50 mix is going to be thicker than most stock juices so I don't think the juice is too thin. Higher VG content thickens juice as you probably know. All my protank experience has been battling wicking issues since I also use a 50/50 mix... Normally the opposite problem than what you are having. I had problems getting the wick to stay wet enough.... You have juice in your air passages.

I use a Davide mostly with a 50-50 e-liquid, and I get gurgling occasionally -- I assume you're talking about gurgling at an annoying volume?

The only thing I can suggest is making sure that the head is screwed in tightly into the base.

Exactly! No bad anything affected from it, just the actual sound drives me to want kick things. I checked multiple times and it's screwed perfect. Thanks though.

Tried blowing... Thats thing, there is no juice seeping into the airflow channel. It's just the sound of gurgling, but when I blow it my vapor towel is untouched with liquid. It's baffling.

I'd take the whole thing apart and deep clean it. Then check every thread for wear, every ring for damage, look at the coil atttached to the base and see if theres anywhere air could be getting through it should not be. Then with the whole unit assembled, cover all the airholes well and take a drag from the unit and see if it still gurgles. If it doesnt then an airflow adapter may be an easier fix to the underlying problem. I know when I rebuild my protank coils and dont use a flavor wick it can wick too well and make gurgle noises but not get juice going up the air post into drip tip. Maybe adding two 1.5mm flavor wicks instead of the two stock 1mm, or try to push the silicon cover down a little more. Hope something you find on here can help!

What I do to all my protank and Davide heads is take the flavor wick out and replace them with a little piece of rolled cotton. You don't want it to be too big cause you could get dry hits. Keeps off the gurgling and the flavor is so much better!

I am waiting for my torch to get here and I'm diving into rebuilding the entire coil with cotton. I never thought about trying just the flavor wick for now though. Great idea! Thanks.

It's always something super simple and overlooked that solves most problems.

Yeah I have no problem with building coils with cotton on my IGo but I just can't rebuild the protank ones! But I do save all my old heads cause if worse come to worse I could figure it out!
