Suppliers: Please STOP posting Facebook contests on the ECF!!!

One thing I have noticed is that a lot of the newer members are "Supporting" ones as well... like you, for instance... Thanks!!

This forum is well worth the $24.00 a year. There is a wealth of useful information at your fingertips. I've saved 10 times the donation from reading posts and going to sites I knew nothing about. I was surprised that only 5% of the forum members are supporters.

I got a years membership by winning a contest to create a new sig banner for the ECF...

It really came in handy, because the current one I had was about to expire, and I didn't have the $$ to spare to pay for another year... plus I get a warm, fuzzy feeling every time I see it on someone's sig!!

]I would much rather support a vendor on the ECF, who has at least gone through a screening process, and have the Forum as a back-up if something goes wrong... then to take my chances with some unknown commodity on Facebook!![/B]

Vapers need to be educated about the ups and downs of ecigs, which is why I came to the ECF in the first place... and I thank the person who gave me the link!! (I always carry a supply of ECF business cards to hand out to people I talk to who are curious about ecigs...)

There are still a lot of people being sucked in by those so-called "Free Trial" scams, and I get more and more (junk) emails from them all of the time. Plus the ECF is a far better source of information than Facebook... (or Google)


Btw... I am not only a Contest Lover, but a Contest Giver, and I'm thinking that it's about time I had another one for the Holiday's!!

All of the Giveaways I've held either had the prizes donated by vendors here... who were more than happy to be giving back to the Community... or things I had won in other contests. You won't find that sense of Community Spirit on Facebook!!!

Totally understand led however is your complaint is of ECF vendors, which are the only 1s you support because of the safety net of ECF, having contest or giveaways which part of their rules is to like there Facebook or other social media site? That in turn brings them more visibility to other customers which may have been thinking making the switch..

It's not like ECF is being invaded from non ECF vendors that are taking over the forum with non ECF giveaways, your complaint is that the ECF vendor is not having just the same ole lets see how many times you can keep my contest on th first page of the forum kinda thing. It's really really simple, if someone doesn't like the contest rules or the extra steps thn don't enter..

But the point is also that vendors who link to Facebook for those contests are breaking ECF rules. Since those rules are in place, then is it unfair for ECF members to have to go outside of ECF to then enter the contest?

ECF members have the expectation that a contest generated on ECF to be held strictly on ECF. Yeah, we all have the option of not entering but we have the expectation of the contests to be following ECF rules. Rules are rules.

You are making a choice not to participate in facebook or any contests requiring a facebook account. That manufacturer is choosing to put out a voluntary contest that requires a facebook account.

Maybe it just comes down to a matter of courtesy, and/or common sense... and just as it's not proper to post a link (or even mention) another Vendor in a thread that belongs to one Vendor, it is also not proper to promote another Forum on here... and is even against the TOS!!

Most vendors are pretty lenient about people posting about someone else in their threads, and you will just get off with a warning... just as I'm sure the Mods/Admin are doing with the 1st time offenders Re: Contests...

Plus the fact that there are plenty of Contest Groups on Facebook where those contests can get posted/promoted!!

Hey spacekitty I have a great and peoductive idea that would truly and I meen truly help out with the contest insted of.....ing about haave to go to facebook to participate in a contest,which by the way in no way effects the ECF there is something that could be 1000 times more productive. ECF has a few thousand members and that is a great thing but facebook has 1/ of the world popu;ation they have more vapers than ecf too. Rhat is why vendors send us therre as well as haveing a way to track the demografics and other vital information that can't be done on ecf. If you want something to complain about and a quest to make things better on the ecf. I will ive you this tid bit for no charge and I gaurrenty it will improve the overall contest and giveaway process on the ecf. OK here it comes are you ready..................................Get rid of and remove all of the old contests and closed contests that show u[ in the contest section to me it is the most frustrationg thing that I have seen on the ec. I f you could track it yu would see that I am on here everyday I sdo contests and have won three in the past 8 or 9 days so they are great even if I have to go over to facebook to do it. if you were able to effect a change on alll of the garbage that is on the contest site it woul attract more visitors, create more commerce and be good for all concerned. The face book issue is nothing compaired to haveing to put up with allof these old tired and closed contests lets get an ecf person on that right away to not only improve the site but the proformance of the site as well.
