Suppliers who are open about ingredients

I absolutely agree that it is not common enough. Electronic cigarette users need to start demanding this information more and voting with their dollars for those that are willing to come forward with it. They shouldn't have anything to hide, the list can not be anywhere near as scary as the list of chemicals in real cigarettes.

I have emailed several juice vendors about ingredients. They will all tell you what is NOT in their juice but not All of everything that IS in their juice. I really don't expect that any vendor will give you a complete list of ingredients as that is tantamount to giving up their "secret" recipe. Also some vendors buy juice and just relabel it as their own while even others will use another's juice and add a little something to make a small change and relabel it.

Its really not feasible. I have asked about aspartame and two of them had to contact their flavor suppliers first to find out if what they used contained it. Most of them buy their flavors from the biggest flavor vendors and those sites don't even tell you what's in them. Then there's the signature juices. Do you really think they're going to tell what's in it and have other vendors steal their recipes? If you have a tank you're afraid will crack, use "contact us" and ask if the ingredients will crack it but they may not know that even. For instance, I have a Banana Nut Bread juice that is found all over the place because so many flavor vendors make it. I had no idea, until watering it down to the point where there was barely any flavor at all, before I could taste cinammon in it. That will crack a tank and, in my case, was making my tongue sore and producing clear phlegm in my bronchials. Its just impossible to label ALL the ingredients unless you made those flavors yourself and most vendors don't....

oh... unless they go to what many food manufacturers have done: "May contain" and a list 10 or more ingredients that would be too much for little juice bottles. And still... who knows what's in it? The best you can do is shop where the vendor seems health conscious about ingredients... they usually put that on the home page or faqs. I shop where they specifically say "contains no...., ....., .... or asparatame." There are lots of them and they're really helpful with "contact us" questions.

Final thought... lets not strap them with too many picky things that can be asked and answered individually because it will drive their and our costs up as has happened with other heavy government regulations. Health... yes... on the major stuff like diactyl but individual allergies... please... no.

It's not really an overly complicated list of ingredients in e-liquid. Just nicotine base, PG/VG and flavorings.

You can get a general list of some of the ingredients in some of the flavorings here but they vary from flavoring to flavoring:

If you have health issues, might be best to DIY and check the list of ingredients on some of the flavorings you're going to use.

I emailed a vendor a couple weeks ago to ask which tobacco juices may have peanut extract in them because I wanted to try some of their tobaccos. I'm deathly allergic to peanuts. I can't handle cross-contamination of peanut extract on utensils either. They never responded. I just wanted to know which ones had one flavor and they never responded. Thus, they missed out on what could have been a decent order.

They are beginning to self regulate: AEMSA | American E-Liquid Manufacturing Standards Association

There are many vendors that are responding to the vaping community's desire to know what we are vaping and what ingredients go into the liquids they sell to us. Also the way the liquids are put together and the cleanliness of the invironment in which the liquids are mixed and stored. There is a more open door policy now and believe it or not, if there is one hint of something fishy, this community informs each other about all things. This is THE most caring and dedicated community of people I have ever encountered.

And you voted with your wallet. Eventually vendors will find out that we ARE becoming more concerned with what is in the juices. If they cannot, or will not disclose, they will lose business. This industry is still in its infancy, relatively speaking. It will be evolving for a long time. As long as we don't become complacent, changes can happen. For the good. :)

Robino1 is right, I am not a vaper but I have patients that are and am starting to recommend it to my smoking patients. So I was hoping to give them some guidance. Mostly I ask this thread question not because I feel the E cigarettes companies are shady for not disclosing. As someone pointed out, the tobacco industry has never put ingredients on their products. And no company does any more than they are required to do by law and what their customers demand. But I do have patients that are worried about the FDA warnings and the only way I can really put those worries to rest is if I have a list of ingredients to go off of. But yes, from my knowledge of the ingredients that I know of so far, they are mostly likely safe and all of them are in real cigarettes anyway.

I do see the problems with trying to get ingredient lists if they all get base solution from one vendor, add flavors by another and then someone else sells it. But it can't hurt to ask and if more people ask then some may try their best to be conscious of it.
