Support and success stories.

Hi, so this is day 8 analog free for me. I had tried about 6mos ago or so, but ended up going back due to technical issues and general lack of knowledge. I live with my hubs and father in law, both of whom are still smoking. I've convinced my fil to switch after letting him try my VapeNectar, but the hubs is just not ready yet. Definitely makes it tougher without him on board. What I've discovered helps is vaping a non tobacco flavor most of the day, and switching to a tobacco flavored vape when I join him for a 'smoke'. I guess it tricks my brain into thinking I'm getting away with something. So what do you do if anything for support? I'd love to hear success stories, and positivity in general. Any techniques that help you stick with it? I can honestly say I don't want to go back.

I've kicked an over 30 yr. habit on the 1st day of vaping over 3.5 yrs ago - TRUTH. Here's the keys to my success: 1) I purchased a very high end system (at the time it was one of the best). It made tons of vapor (judging from back then). 2) I used a high dosage of nicotine at 2.4 and 3.2 mg to start. A couple of puffs statisfied my nicotine cravings - very powerful. 3) I was lucky that a friend had found a liquid that tasted very close to the menthol cigarettes I was smoking which was my first puff on an ecig. That night I went home and spent appox. $150 on the same system. It was 3 am but I made it a priority to put that order in.

It was a no brainer after that. No spending $10 a pack for ciggys, no stinky apartment and car. I could smoke it in non smoking bars. Done deal!

I was a 33yr pack and a half smoker. I quit last Jan. 2013 and haven't looked back. I can't believe how much better I feel. I haven't had any chest colds, not one the entire year! I did have cravings up until the 6th month and then they quit thankfully. I'd just vape my way through them, that's all I could do. I really do not want to ever go back on cigarettes now that I'm off of them. I hate that they controlled me for most of my life. From the moment I would wake up until I went to bed it was about smoking a cigarette or having enough cigarettes. No more! Like I said my health is better, I smell better, and I just feel better. You can do it as well. There are too many of us long time smokers who have quit using vaping as the alternative. I wish you the best of luck! Happy Vaping!!

HI Suitepea32 and congrats on day 8 analog free. Whatever it takes to "trick your brain", use it. I've relied on the folks here a lot over the past 3 months. I use pretty basic gear, but it is working for me. Hope you continue to share your story and that your vaping journey continues to be successful as it grows and expands. Glad you found ECF. This is a wonderfully supportive place and the people here have a ton of knowledge. Happy New Year and namaste.

Thank you all, I'm happy to have found such a supportive community. I'm pretty basic on supplies right now. I have a Tsunami battery and a Kanger Protank. I think to keep it up I need to get at least another battery and tank. Still way cheaper than cigarettes. I'm sure eventually my husband will come around, but it's nice to have people to talk to who 'get' it.

Welcome Suitepea! You are doing awesome so far, especially with a hubby who continues to smoke. When I first started vaping over 3 years ago, I made up my mind that I wouldn't put any pressure on myself to quit smoking - that it would happen when it would happen and if I wanted to smoke, I would.

Smoking became less and less until I was just vaping. I missed smoking for a while, but vaping was sooo much better. :) Once you get the hang of the "new" habit of vaping it just gets easier and easier.

Just don't put pressure on yourself, keep vaping, and you'll do great!
