There are a lot of posts in the forums about battery safety. In my opinion ANYBODY vaping should be reading them before they decide to save $2-$5 on a cheap battery or $20-$30 on a "discount charger" - or advise anybody else to do so either for that matter.
We had better start regulating ourselves or we are going to GET regulated, and I can promise you won't like it.
I think maybe "we" should stop supporting modders/vendors here on ECF that make mods lacking adequate safety features and clear instructions particularly around the use of batteries and chargers.
This is probably going to step on a few toes, maybe even mine, but we also need to stop being "blind fanboys" about every new flashy mod, gadget, or attachment idea that comes out. There is plenty of room for bling and personalizing our hardware - but people making junk need to be called out on it here if it is truly junk. Vendors and manufacturers who care about the right things can and will distinguish themselves by the quality of hardware and accessories they sell. People turning out junk should be afraid to even stick their heads up here.
"Safety first", people.
Like I said, we had better start regulating OURSELVES or a lot of good people and vendors are going to suffer when regulation gets imposed on us. Politicians have a funny way of capitalizing on tragedy to advance agendas, and we all know how much $$$ the BT and BP interests can throw around.
And as I already said elsewhere about this incident, I really hope the gentleman this happened to will recover well. I am really sorry this happened to him. Hopefully more details about the type of hardware will emerge.
