You did research huh? The very FIRST post in one of the ORIGINAL threads about this incident: E cig explosion in Texas - guy dies linked to the article Texas Man Dies After E-Cigarette Explodes in His Face and Severs an Artery. If you had read this article it clearly stated:

So was it REALLY a "ridiculous conclusion" from an ECF member to think it was probably a mech?
I had read that article. The "Mechanical mod" part didn't appear in the original article, meaning it was edited later.

Usually when an article is edited, they make a note somewhere indicating it has been edited. They also usually put any new info at the bottom not up in the middle. I am 95% ;) sure it was there when I read it on Feb 5th.

They simply edited the sentence just like that, and, the reason why I'm 150% sure about that is because, after the ecf member I was referring to earlier had jumped to the conclusion that it was probably a mech mod, for more than an hour I kept looking for additional info that might indicate this probability, yet I found absolutely no such info anywhere at all, and, if what you say is true and the article had NOT been edited just like that, then the simple fact that the ecf member in question jumped to the conclusion that it was probably a mech mod wouldn't have made any sense whatsoever anyway in the first place, now, would it? ;)

If you re-read the blog, it was in response to an ECF member's post who was having difficulty in understanding Ohm's Law. He referred to himself as a "dumb noob". I didn't remove the "dumb noob" reference to maintain the authenticity of the thread title.

I would consider removing the "dumb" part in the title if enough people agree with you.

I would have left it as is Bad. You were not offending anyone in fact the title is helpful to those who are afraid to ask the question in a forum. You have more useful information on here than everyone combined. Since when did the word dumb become offensive? I get called dumb for vaping.

I get called dumb for my mistrusting the built-in safety features of all the regulated mods that typically are made from chinesium. I mean, if one knows battery safety and one knows it properly, then if one has enough self-discipline to correctly apply that knowledge one shouldn't be needing built-in safety features of regulated mods because then one shouldn't have to protect oneself against their own dumbness anyway in the first place, especially because Mooch also said you should assume those built-in safety features are going to fail on you so, with proper knowledge being applied correctly, Murphy's Law often tends to be a tad more vital than Ohm's Law.
