I just bought a genuine svoemesto kayfun Lite (not plus) and the negative coil screw is slipping when I screw it in all the way. I unscrewed the screw all the way and screwed it back in and it seemed to stay tight until I went to rebuild another coil and it started slipping again.

Any ideas or suggestions? I may go back to the shop where I bought it's not in a very convenient location for me so I figured I'd ask here first.

Also, I would post this in the atomizer forum but this is my first post.

sounds like the threads on either the screw or negative screw hole are not properly machined. If its the screw, then a new screw would be the problem solver.... but if its the screw hole, then the base will need to be replaced... I would try a new screw first. Seems that an original KF wouldnt have that issue tho....

I did try one of the extra screws that came with it and that didn't seem to help. I'll try switching the two screws next time I build a coil though.

For now I had to wrap the kanthol around the screw and then tighten it down until just before it slipped. That was a real pain though. Does anyone have any tips for wrapping the wire around the screw? It was really difficult to do with such little space.

are you trying to wrap the wire all the way around the screw and then tighten?

pull the wire taut. I only have the screw cover maybe a quarter of the wire and pulling it keeps it in place.

using an authentic kayfun.

I've heard of people replacing the scews with ones with a flat bottom so it's easier to catch.

I am, but I'm only doing that because I can't get the wire to stay on the screw otherwise. I tried pulling the wire as tight as I could get it and as soon as I pull up on the coil to lift it off of the base the negative screw gets loose and the wire slips.

Worth mentioning - this is my first rebuildable. I figured, though, since I didn't have any issues rebuilding a Kanger coil that this would be a breeze. But both of the 2 I've built so far have taken me almost an hour a piece.

Do you know what size screw the Kayfun base takes? Maybe I should look for some better screws.

Screws are little so just wrap both leads around the screws 1 time and then tighten up! Dont forget to lift the coil a bit before tightening up, at the end it should be 3-6mm over the airhole! Works great every time on non flat screw heads which are common on kayfuns. Stupid imo

Correct size: M1.6 4mm

It's just been really hard to get the wire wrapped around because it's so dang small. It was really hard to get the side on the coil/inside of the wrap to lay underneath the screw head. I finally got it after trying for about 20 minutes but it is a paid for sure. Maybe it just takes practice.

I may stop by Harbor Freight and see if they have a flat screw that size. Thanks!

JB these are the correct sized screws for the kayfun , if you get the matching hex nuts to go with them it'll give you a larger bearing surface to catch the wire , it makes rebuilding easier .

poor machining? no. the heads of the screws are rounded. a flat surface would make things catch easier, but it's not necessary.

I think he was talking about the slipping screws. It's not just that the wire is slipping out from under the screw, but also the screw itself isn't holding into the base tightly.

I'll try that. I need to figure it out soon because the ohms on my coils are jumping all over. Was 1.8 since I built it last night. Right now it reads 2.2 and a few minutes ago it read close to 3

Looks like you have a short on the deck because of the screw?! Not safe to use on mechanical w/o kick at the moment!

What about center pin on 510 connector? It shouldnt touch the sides! But its an authentic kayfun so this would be really weird.

Which piece is the 510 connector? I'm guessing the coil came loose and it's touching either the screws or the air flow hole below it.
