Swedish customs officials have ignored a court ruling that bans them from confiscating e-cigarettes, finding an administrative loophole that allows them to "promote public health".

E-cigarettes in and of themselves are legal in Sweden, and nicotine-free e-juice is available. However, products containing nicotine are generally classified as medicinal. Two exceptions are normal cigarettes and smokeless tobacco, snus, which are instead regulated by the Tobacco Law (Tobakslagen). A small bottle of liquid nicotine e-juice can contain much higher concentrations of nicotine, which the medical products agency said led to 33 poisonings in 2013, including both children and e-cig users.

I can't think of one government that is genuinely embracing e-cigs....I'm home sick today and my head is clouded so I'm not thinking clearly....someone, please tell me I am wrong?? This is really a nightmare world wide. Shame on everybody.

I find it astonishing that in all the good Sweden has done in THR that they'd try to hinder the acceptance of e-cigs - something that could truly benefit those smokers for whom snus isn't a desirable alternative - madness.

I highly doubt that e cigs effect the snus market much. It would be more of an attack on those that still smoke because that haven't tried or don't like snus. E cigs are just another product that effects the bottom line of BP and BT.
