Hey guys,

I just recently got into the world of variable voltage PVs and have been experimenting with a range of atomizers, cartomizers and liquids and trying to find the sweet spot. I am finding that every combination is different. Some liquids can handle higher voltage and some can go from tasting perfectly and vaping well to having an unholy harshness about them within .4 of a volt.

So this post is about reporting sweet spots. What I would like to see is some details about sweet spot combinations that are really working for you. You can mention one or many different combinations. Maybe you are using a VV or a fixed voltage mod like the roughstack or GLV2.
Perhaps you are more advanced and think in terms of watts and can provide numbers for the sweet spot wattage you are experiencing on your particular combination.

So I am going to get the ball rolling with this contribution -

My PV is a Provari.

The atty in question is a Bauway 510 2.4 ohm atty.

So here are a few sweet spots I've found:

Vaperite AGV Tobacco - 4.0 v
Vaperite 777 tobacco - 3.8 (I am finding this juice really does not like too much heat and is harsh tasting at anything over 4).

Generally speaking I am finding it difficult to pump up any Vaperite juices above 4.2 without compromising flavour.

FreedomsmokeUSA - most tobacco juices are just perfect at 4.6 volts. Great vapor, great flavour and plenty of throat hit.

BWB Casablanca - About 4.3 but I am playing around with this.

In terms of wattage I am finding some juices love 8 watts and others really start to taste harsh at anything above 7. VG juices seem to like less heat, PG juices can be increased to about 4.7 volts or 8 watts.

This is one particular experience I am having with my 2.4 ohm 510 atty. I have a 2.9 ohm 801 atty which strangely seems to perform at smaller voltages which doesn't make a lot of sense to me considering it's a higher ohm atty than my 510.

I look forward to hearing about your sweet spots!

Anthony

I agree djbish,

Before I got my variable voltage PV I couldn't wait to vape at 5 volts thinking it was the sweet spot. I've watched many youtube liquid review videos where the reviewer has made comments about how perfect 5 volts is. Yet, once I got my Provari and tried 5 volts I found most of my juices simply did not vape well at that level.

Of course atomizer resistance is an important part of the equation and I can't recall what atomizers/cartridges they were using. My guess is they were probably using an atty/cart in the 2.6-3 ohms range. I've put my order in for some attys around that mark to vape at 5 volts.

I might mention here that I notice I need to vape less in order to stay below my nicotine fill threshold. With my ego and 510 batts I was able to vape all day. Once I moved to low resistance I had to vape less. Now that I've moved to higher voltage I have to vape less still. 18 mg was previously my perfect level but I think I need to drop to 12 mg if I want to vape as frequently as I desire. With 18 mg I am finding the throat hit can be a bit too harsh at higher voltages.

And is it my imagination or do these organic based VG liquids from suppliers like Vaperite, Alien Visions and BWB prefer much less watts/voltage? I am finding the sweet spot to be at around 3.8 volts with my 2.6 ohm atty with those liquids. So about 6 watts in total. I can push them to 4.1-4.2 and get a bigger throat hit with some compromise in flavour and some harshess creeping in. At 4.5 they turn awful and taste as harsh as vaping acid! I could do with some insight here as this surprises me. This is anything but the 5 volts sweet spot I keep seeing on e-liquid video reviews.
