Im placing my first flavor order tonight. I picked a few favors from TFA and Capellas. I noticed these are not sweetened so I have to show my ignorance (again) and ask do I need to add sweeteners? My guess is yes. If so should I order from one of the flavor companies or do you suggest something else or better? I appreciate all the help from everyone here. I wouldn't even attempts this if it wasn't for this community.
We like custard and crime type flavor says well as some fruits etc. I'd love to hear some of your suggestions before I hit that "place order" button. thanks to everyone here. :)

I hope you got capellas vanilla custard ......mmmmmmmmmmmmm.............. I think you will get mixed answers on the sweetener. I tried it in the beginning. never liked it. most stuff is sweet enough you can use different things to sweeten besides sweetener. EM rarely sweetens anything. more just mutes high notes and mends others.

As others have stated, EM isn't necessarily a sweetener. If you're looking to sweeten things, you can use Sucralose. Some companies just call it sweetener, but if you click on it, it should say Sucralose. I personally don't like it. I feel like it has an aftertaste. Some alternates that others use are brown sugar, marshmallow, maple syrup, kettle corn, or gummy candy. I've had success with marshmallow and brown sugar. I haven't tried the others.

No. I started my adventure by complaining that none of my juices were sweet enough. I tried sucralose and Ethyl Maltol. Both didn't seem to change much, so now I don't use them. But you can always try

Most of them are based in either Ethyl Maltol, Sucralose, and sometimes Stevia. They should tell you this in the product description. A Cotton Candy flavoring is generally going to be Ethyl Maltol. Sucralose is generally labeled as "sweetener." Again, this should be in the item description.

How safe is Sucralose?

It's hard to say how safe any of the flavorings really are. Even food colorings are up for debate. Sucralose is in Splenda, and Splenda is questioned to be cancerous. If you want a safe(r) sweetener, try EM or stevia. Stevia with a high % of Reb A is what I've seen

With that said, Sucralose is a very popular sweetener.

marshmallow and brown sugar? i am very very new to this. are these just other flavor liquids you use to sweeten with?

Yes. They are made by The Flavor Apprentice.

Brown Sugar Extra Flavor (TFA)

The brown sugar is extra strength and requires very little.
