...that I wasted almost $50 on a nice torch, a bunch of mesh, silica, and ekowool. I see now why everybody on here kicks themselves for waiting to try it. I didn't even use organic cotton and distilled water, just threw some CVS cotton balls in a boiling pot of tap water for a good 15 minutes, let it dry and I have to say that I am getting much better flavor overall vs. using other wicking methods. Kudos to all you fine folks who constantly reminded me of what I was missing!

Happy Holidays!

Heh, Yeah... it's like night and day, isn't it!
I don't even boil it anymore, I don't really notice any difference in the taste and the amount of cotton in the coil is so infinitely small that I'm not all too concerned about a little peroxide since it just breaks down to water for the most part.

LOL
I also bought a torch, (not $50 worth) wick ,mesh, ect.
Like they say " You dont know unless you try"
I will never go back to those mentioned because of the taste they produce.
Looking into cotton yarn next, just cause of the strands.

I'm glad I bought the torch...for coil building! Love the cotton. I was in a store somewhere and saw the Sugar and Cream cotton yarn. I still prefer the regular old cotton balls. I keep going back and trying something differant with the yarn but I'm always going back to cotton balls. It's in my Kayfuns, Genny's, drippers...everything. Not a strand of silica or mesh to be found around here. I never tried eco wool, hemp or any of that stuff....cotton is cheap and available and works like a charm. I do boil it, but in tap water. I'm not sure why I do it. I do demolition and wind up removing Asbestos on a daily basis....I'm pretty sure cotton balls won't be what kills me!

Yeah I tried the peaches and cream yarn and cotton balls blows it out of the water. I don't boil it or anything. I bought a bag of cotton balls at the dollar store for... you guessed it, a dollar. In 6 weeks I have used 3 cotton balls. I will probably go through the whole bag in about 5 years.

I suppose asbestos has really become a part of your life then, being in your username and all ;). Be careful out there! We had to rip out a bunch of that crap from old military buildings when I was in the Navy. The amount of PPE they made us wear was unreal.

I came to this thread getting ready to defend cotton. :) Well that torch isn't useless, you should use it to torch your coils and squish them together so all the wraps are touching even if you aren't building a microcoil.

I actually find it easier to just throw the coil on the atomizer then pulse it and pinch it with tweezers to get it nice and good looking, ala the Rip Trippers way. The torch will definitely still come in handy for other stuff though!

My first go at cotton was twisting a qtip swab into a protank coil, it rolled my eyes so far back into my head they almost didn't come back. Been vaping cotton baton and then found hemp fiber from a co-op in here. It wicks the same as cotton but lasts much longer, use to get maybe 3-4 days before having to swap the cotton wick now I'm just ending day 6 with hemp wicking and still might get tommorrow out of it before I have to replace the wick. Now my cotton got shelved just like my ekowool and silica did that day I vaped that qtip swab. I've spent a lot more than 50 bucks on silica, ekowool and mesh but only 2.49 on the torch...I use propane torch, its does the same job but less hassle and cheaper.

Another good use for the torch is to annel the wire by heating it with the torch before wrapping the coil. It makes the wire softer, which make it easier to wrap the coil. It takes some of the springiness out of the wire. Just hold it with some pliers so you don't burn yourself. I found out the hard way!!!

I have been using hemp cotton. It looks like a cotton twine, not sure whats hemp about it. It is the perfect diameter to fit nicely in the micro coil. It is easy to juice it to the walls in the kayfun lite+ before you put the chimney on. Tastes great and so easy. Would be happy to share where I got it if you PM me, not sure about posting things about vendors who are not sponsored. Anyways bye bye ekowool. Also love making micro coils it's fun and easy to get a consistent ohm. Vape on!

Don't give up on the P and C yarn. 3 strands in a micro coil=awesome. I find it wicks as quickly as cotton. Don't get me wrong luv the cotton too. Have 10 lifetimes supplies of both for about a $8 investment.

I tried different number of strands in 1/16" micro and 3/32" coil. Already rewicked w/ balls. I'm worried about loosing my $2.00 investment.
