Switching between flavors

Silly question time! :D

I've been vaping for a little over a month, now, and figured out pretty early on that I hate cartos. I'm using a Wickus from Vapin in the Cape and love it. I'm not quite sure how to go about switching flavors, though. I have three tanks. One has Sweet Carolina/Menthol mix, and is my regular vape. One has Virgin Vapors Organic Coconut Breeze in it, which I'm not a fan of. I have one spare tank, and six or seven juices I want to try out! If I empty out the coconut, is anything else I put in that tank going to taste like coconut? I guess my question is can a tank be used to switch between flavors, or is it pretty much only for one flavor? I don't want to waste juice, or a tank...

it seems like a knock off mini nova of sorts to me, to change flavors you'd need to clean the tank, clean the wicks, then dry the wicks, dry burn the wicks, then fill with the new flavor....

out of curiosity though, what kind of cartomizers were you using? because not all cartomizers are made equal....and many will outperform and taste much different from others.

Yeah, pretty much the poor man's nova. :p I used these cartos. When I picked up the first Wickus, it was mostly because I wanted to be able to see exactly how much juice was left to smoke and because the cartos weren't working with some 100% vg I'd gotten from Virgin Vapor. I couldn't believe how much more flavor there was to the juices after I switched from the cartos, though!

That's a lot of work to change flavors, lol. Is it easier to try new flavors if you have a drip atomizer set up? I mean, I'm happy with the Sweet Carolina/Menthol, but it would be nice to do something different on occasion...

I read enough at horizontal coil... try some ikenvape.com platinum series cartos and you would probably have a different opinion...as far as a drip atty,yes...the transition would be smoother, but you'd probably never get the flavor of some juices out of an atty, especially flavors like menthol or coffee

I've never used carto tanks, but with my vivi novas and the T3, I can rinse 'em out with warm/hot water and move along. But I tend to vape stuff like Sweet Caroline and other similar juices that aren't cinnamon, menthol, citrus, etc....

I do the same and if you are impatient and have to soak them a bit, just pop in a new coil, automatic freshness.

I got a drip atomizer today for trying out flavors, much much easier.

Cartomizers are problematic for me too, though I am getting some of these to try: CE2 Style Tank Replacement Single Coil Cartomizers, 2.0 Ohms, Dual Hole

It's a cartomizer that has a wick inside.

dreamyraynbo, those look to me like Kanger T2's. Think they would be knock-offs or they would have used the Kanger name. Not sure because I've never owned one, but I am thinking of trying them so have been looking at them lately.

If this is what they are, there are a lot of videos out there on cleaning them, performance reviews and also on flavor changes. I would have a look at a vid and see if the clearo you have is the same as what they are working with.

An overnight soak in vinegar has reliably gotten rid of any remnants of strong coffees and vile, perfumey tobaccos for me in both attys and my Kanger M3 clearomizers. I rinse the atty or M3 (drip tip removed) really well, then I soak overnight in full strength white vinegar, rinse very well again and allow to air dry or dry with a blow dryer. Even if not rinsed well vinegar leaves no residual odor when dry and it is great for removing odors. Lemon juice works equally well but costs more.

I would guess that a vinegar soak would get rid of the taste of strong juices for Vivi Novas but I haven't loaded any of mine with anything that causes an issue so I just rinse, dry burn and rinse those.

I'm hugely not a fan of futzing with priming attys when testing juices so they are neither dry burning nor flooding so I just use my M3 clearomizers. I find the taste to be as clear as an atty so there is little reason to bother with the aggravation.

Wow, yeah, those look identical. Does that happen a lot, stores selling knock offs like that? That kind of pisses me off...

Thanks for the heads up. I'll check out the videos. :)

I never even thought of a vinegar soak. That's funny, since vinegar is what I use to clean everything... Thanks for the reminder!

So you have the Kanger and a Vivi Nova? Do you prefer one over the other? I keep thinking about switching to the Nova, but it and the replacement coils are more expensive, so...

knock offs happen WAY too often in this industry, you'll learn about it soon enough...there are lots of knockoffs, some are good, some are downright AWFUL.

I've been testing juices with an atty, but it doesn't seem to be a great indicator of how they will taste in my novas. I'm having good luck with the processes mentioned above: rinse, soak, dry burn, rinse. I'm using both the full size vivi novas and the minis. The minis are great for trying out new juices as their small tanks mean that I don't waste a lot of juice if I'm not digging the flavor. So far I've tried attys, clearomizers (like your link), cartos, dct tanks and the vivi novas. The novas are the best by a WIDE margin. I absolutely love 'em. They never leak, easy to clean, have great flavor, tons of vapor, easy to fill, easy to change resistance and they have a great draw on my kgo vv battery. If you decide to try them, make sure that the version you get has the air hole just above the threads on the 510 connector and not on the base of the tank. The previous version with the hole on the base does not draw nearly as well. You have to be careful (as noted above) because like all vaping accessories, there are a lot of versions out there and not all of them are clearly advertised.

I don't have a Kanger T2 but have a Kanger T3 and 5 Vivi Novas (both regular size and minis). I think the Kanger T3s and Vivi Novas both produce better taste than polyfill cartomizers but some people prefer the taste from cartomizers. Some people think the T3s produce better taste than the Viva Novas but they both taste about the same to me. The Kanger has a bottom coil which produces a somewhat cooler vape.

I clean, dry burn and rinse again after every two or three fills following PBusardo's instructions, A PBusardo Tutorial - Vivi Nova Cleaning & Rebuilding. So far, I've not had to replace heads after over two months of use but I have all my rebuilding goodies ready to go whenever the first head goes.

However, I've fallen in love with the little Kanger M3s. They only hold 1 ml. of juice, need a needle-nosed bottle or syringe to fill with thicker juices, won't use an alternate drip tip and aren't rebuildable. However, to me the taste is vastly superior to the Kanger T3 and Vivi Nova and I find it comparable to dripping. I'm a taste junkie so the M3s are what I prefer using. They get cleaned with a vinegar soak after two or three fills and take a couple of days to dry which is another inconvenience. I've been using mine for a little over a month and all are still working well.
