Hey fellow vapers... I've been vaping the easy way with pre-filled cartridges for the last year and am ready to make the switch to "dripping".

I'd prefer something that kinda resembles a cigarette, and isn't complicated.
Also, how long will a filled cartridge last and how may times can it be filled before you have to toss it?
Do you ever need to clean anything?

I'd like to get a kit that will give me everything I need.
What's my best bet and why?

I'm looking for any and all advice please.

Thanks :)
Karen

Well sweetie, if you are talking about dripping then "filled carts" no longer apply ....

You must first pick out an atomizer that is compatible with your present PV or your next PV, and then you would select the appropriate drip tip to fit your atomizer.

Then you would proceed to drip 3-4 drops of juice on the atty at a time (more than this usually leads to flooding), and then you vape .... with drippin you will have re-drip your juice onto the atomoizer every 5-7 draws that you take.

If you are looking for a cig sized battery, you have a few options, but first must decide whether you want a 510 or 808/901 compatible battery. There are adapters available that will allow you to interchange between both types of threading.

Also, if you are dripping then automatic batteries are not recommended, so be sure your new cig sized battery is a manual.

addendum for recommendation .... a standard 510 starter kit with manuals batteries will get you started. Most vendors carry "Drip tips" that will fit your 510 threaded atomizer.

Since you are new to this, a 510 starter kit is your bet best bet due to it's simplicity and its common threading ( which means there are many e cig parts available that are compatible with 510 threading ). The list of vendors to purchase from are endless, so I suggest google "510 starter kit" and price/review compare the vendors and then make your purchase.

If you're willing to go to a little bigger battery, Liberty Flights has the joye ego and riva ego sized batteries. I recommend the joye kits as I think they're worth the few extra dollars, but both kits get good reviews.

If you discover you really like dripping, check out the bonut mod, as mentioned in this thread (thread also has a link to the original article).

I went from carts to dripping to Tanks and love um...just an idea? I feel like dripping got to be too much work and the tanks taste better (to me) than the carts and attys.

If you do decide to rock with the drip make sure you clean your attys out well with your preferred method. I let them soak in fresh boiled water with some lemon juice overnight then let them dry. Depending on the juice you drip they can clog up and taste icky pretty fast. Keep um wet and don't burn them out! As for the mod or batteries if you prefer a cig looking batt I liked the joye megas, but the riva isn't too large as well and has a bit more kick. Vaping is an evolution, it can take a while to find your sweet spot it seems. Good luck!

Over the edge...
Liberty flights seems to be out of the Riva 510 kits which is what I was going to recommend. They do have the Joye Ego kits for only a few dollars more. The kits also include cartridges so you can drip or use the carts. You will need to clean the atomizers but it is soooooo easy. You can just rinse 'em out with hot water and dry 'em out.

I feel like your original posting may be confused. I THINK you are talking about switching from prefilled carts to filling your own carts or cartos. This is not dripping. You are just talking about filling. In that case, you have options between cartridges, tanks, and cartomizers. You can fill them all by "dripping" into the cartridge/tank/carto. 1mL lasts me about 1 hr of heavy vaping, but that doesn't usually run the cart/tank/carto dry, (I run them down to about 30-50% capacity, so they don't run the risk of dry burning).

DRIPPING is an entirely different thing. It means you no longer have a "storage" device on your PV. It means you use just the atomizer, no cartridge, no cartomizer, no tank. You take your bottle of juice and drip a few drops directly onto the atomizer, (the thing that vaporizes the liquid), and then vape for 5-10 puffs before dripping a bit more on.

SO, dripping lasts about 1/10th as long as a 1mL cart/carto/tank. The advantage is less worry about burning the filling in the cart/carto, as well as (typically) better flavor, better vapor. The disadvantage is you need to drip into it more often. Carts/cartos/tanks work better if you don't want to drip into the PV every few minutes. The disadvantage is they are a bit more of a PITA to use, (IMHO), can have leaking problems, and can have reduced flavor/vapor, (all matters of opinion).

Either way, you should get manual sealed batteries, which reduce the risk of juice getting into the battery and shorting it out. The recommended kits in this thread so far are all good.

I use an E-Power 14650 from Hoosier. I recommend this vendor for the E-Power 14650 because Hoosier equips the E-Power with the best available switch module. Look into the KGO from Hoosier as well.

E-Power From Smok Tech and HECS

Both of these tube mods are 510 and larger than a cigarette, however they fit a pocket or purse and provide most users enough power and juice capacity for most if not all of a day.

I use Smoktech single coil 1.7 and 2.0 ohm LR (low resistance) XL (extra large) cartos with the E-Power 14650. I fill two of these LR XL cartos a day. The cartos last me 7-10 days each before the taste begins to suffer. Then I just change out to a new blank carto. These cartos are not that expensive so for me it's not worth trying to clean them out for extended use.

Cleaning: with the daily filling ritual I clean the battery contact with a bit of paper towel. I also clean the stainless steel E-Powers with a dry cotton cloth to keep then looking good.
