So I have been using my Kanger Aerotank and Aspire mini Nautilus for some time now and finally decided to try RDA's. I purchased a $5 piece from my local shop and built 2 .7 ohm coils on 28 gauge wire. I got good vapor and more importantly amazing flavor. So I am hooked on building my own coils and using RDA/RBA.
What is a good RDA to pick up next? It is going to be a clone but should I go for a Plum Veil or a Dark Horse? Those two look nice to me. Also do RBA's like the Kayfun and Kraken perform like a Dark Horse but just with a tank system? I do not mind dripping when I need to since I am getting almost 30 vapes per drip. I use about 5 or so drops per coil for that.
BTW I saw the new Kangertech Sub tank and that thing looks amazing. I love the fact I can use their coils and build my own on it as well.
:)

My plume v1 clone has essentially no juice well, which is unfortunate. They've added a deeper well in the v2, I believe, which would make it perfect. Mine can leak rather easily. However, it vapes wonderfully, and has spots for 4 leads, so building dual coils is easier than with a 3-post RDA, which I believe the dark horse is.

So, the plume veil would probably be an easier build, but hold less juice/leak more, at least the v1. It can be very airy if you want it to be, or you can close off almost all of the airflow. I assume the dark horse is similarly airy, but I don't own one, and can't comment.

For an rda that holds alot, I like my 30mm magma.

For an rda that you can lay down horizontally without leaking there's the veritas; there are also more and more rda's being made with airflow coming from the top and going down side channels so that you don't get leaking.

For an rda with a tank, I'm happy with my bigdripper; but I use it on other dripper decks, not the one supplied.

I have a Plum Veil, 454 Big Block and Tobh 2.5 clones and an auth Mutation X v2.....

My goto rda is the Mutation...hits like a train, easy to build on, tons of air flow options and it doesn't leak...

I was about to retire the 454 then put a wide bore drip tip on it and now it's my second favorite for now...:)

I want to get a Dark Horse and a Little Boy but have to wait until after xmas...no funds now...:)

Great info guys! I am also going to wait until January before I buy anything for myself in regards to vaping but I think I will go with the Dark horse for now. As for a rda tank I was going to get a good quality cloned Kayfun but since the v4 just came out I will pick that up in a month. As for now I see 2 companies have cloned it. Perhaps more will by January. Thanks for the replies and I will look for a Kayfun thread after I get the V4 and comment on that.

My kayfun is my all day tag along. Coil building on those is important, but wicking is just as if not more important. They can be finicky, but if you get it down it's a RBA. Plus it holds a good amount of juice, I don't have the time during working and a lot of driving to drip. That being said, I've had my Patriot for quite awhile and although there's a ton of new devices on the market I always liked it. I did just pick up the Mutation X v2 a couple of weeks ago and now my patriot just sits collecting dust. I see they are cloning those now too, but for $30 for an authentic it's great and I actually like supporting that kind of manufacturer. It's not that I hate other authentic makers who charge an arm and a leg, it's just who really has $100-$140 or whatever for this or that authentic RDA. Just my opinion, but those prices kill those makers alone. Even if there weren't clones, I wouldn't be able to justify those types of purchases. Too each his own though. I have had good flavor with the Mutation X depending on the build. I actually am running a single coil 1.2 ohm on it right now and it's actually awesome at about 30W. I kept building sub ohm dual coil builds on it and was getting massive vapor, but not the flavor I wanted. Next purchase for me I believe is going to be a Magma (clone I'm sure). I've heard so many good things and it looks like a good flavor RDA. Good luck to you. That's half the fun, trying new things and seeing what you like.

For flavour, I love my magma. Has massive juice wells even on the 22mm size. Clouds, TOBH kicks the snot out of it, and flavour isn't bad at all. My Kayfun is hit and miss, it just loves having wicking issues and it can be a pain in my backside more often than not, however it's current 0.6ohm build isn't too shabby, and I get very few dry hits - all user error at this point. I'd be more likely to hit up a Lemo for an RTA. Also, depending on what gauge wire you're using, the Magma can be a pain in the backside for dual coil builds, the TOBH and some others like a Plume Veil handle them like a champ.

For an RDA, you'll have to ask yourself a few question:

1. What's my budget
2. Will I be doing single or dual+ coils
3. Flavor vs clouds
4. Will you be trying to use it to pick up someone

For single coil, with the option of doing more, I keep pointing people towards the smoktech caterpillar, the tugboat, or mutation x v2 (you want the v2 for the option of single coil). The original caterpillar is affordable at $13, and the tugboat clones are in the same boat and the flavor is beautiful. The mutation I consider a cloud chaser, though it can be made to give a relatively flavorful vape too -- just some things about it like the screws and such bug me.
