I picked one up yesterday. No buyers remorse here either. It is solid feeling and seems extremely well built. The soft/standard/powerful modes work well, and 60W is plenty for me. If you need 100+ W, then there are other options out there. But this is just about perfect for me. Oh - and there's also a mechanical bypass mode if you want to just put the raw power of the battery into the atty. Not sure about the voltage drop on this, but this is a nice feature. If you can get your hands on one I would suggest grabbing it.

I purchased and just received an SX Mini today. My purchase was based on the excellent reviews. My experience differs. The unit I received has a defective 510 connector. I have attached 5 different atomizers to the SX mini which are working fine on other mods and all elicit a "low resistance" warning when screwed down flush with the 510 connector plate. Amazing! My new SX mini came with an apparent built in short with a properly attached atomizer. However I should mention that if I only allow one or two threads to contact so that the atomizers are loose to "flop around" on the unit all five atomizers fire properly. The unit came in it's nicely sealed original box with it's warranty card proudly stating that QC was PASSED. If this unit passed Yihi's QC procedures then I think a thorough review of QC at Yihi is in order. As a compounding issue the vendor in Melbourne, FL does not list a telephone number. That in itself is not something that I consider a mark of quality in a supplier. I should mention that I did not touch the 510 pin connector in any way so any issues with turning that pin with a screwdriver do not apply.

As you can no doubt guess I am not happy either with the quality of the SX Mini nor the service available from the supplier.

I am very sorry to hear that you are having problems with your SXMini. Have you tried pulling the battery, then installing the atty before reinserting the battery? My 510 seems to have less play when I do that.

There haven't been very many reports of serious issues with these and in comparison with other mods on the market, the failure rate has been very good from what I've seen anecdotally. In every electronics and mechanical device on the market there is a certain level of acceptable failure rate in shipped units. I don't think it really is a question of Yihi's overall QC since no product is shipped 100% without issue. Comparatively speaking the SXMini has been one of the most reliable units I've seen. I know that doesn't likely assuage your displeasure, but it is more likely that you'll get a solid replacement when the vendor ships one to you.

Regarding the supplier, I usually refuse to purchase from any store online that does not list an address and/or phone number. The lack of those details indicates to me that the supplier has decided not to support its customer base. That said, I believe you are talking about Varitube...they are one of the few exceptions to my general rule since they have been very good about responding to emails in the past. Have you emailed them and given them time to respond?

Every once in a while, even a proven performer, goes out "unusable". Sad, but true. But Please take heart, IF it is Varitube in Melbourne, He, is a VERY solid, and customer oriented person. He has given me GREAT breaks on price, fixed items that were likely MY problem, NOT his, and always responded to emails VERY promptly.
Please take heart, IF a varitube unit, I am certain he will handle it in his normal efficient manner. Good luck to you,

Yellow Hawk

I have removed and reinstalled the battery with a properly functioning atomizer in place and that certainly does not eliminate the internal 510 short condition. The only way this particular unit is useable is with a thick nylon washer installed between the atomizer and the 510 connection.

I guess I am relatively unforgiving with respect to Quality Control, probably because of my engineering background but I maintain that when a QC certification is made for a product that certification should mean that the individual unit is certified to perform to reasonable use standards. To me this does not mean that most of the units are acceptable but that the individual unit receiving QC certification is acceptable. Any QC system that certifies a faulty item is a failed QC system in my book.
