SX350 box mod

Really sleek mod. Good to see the edges rounded some too for added comfort. Might I ask what happened to the green one? I prefer the screws for servicing as opposed to sealing it shut, so that you CAN get into it but don't really need to that often.

k0py - most of my parts are on the way. I wanted the FatDaddy 510, but they are out of stock! The eBay vendor I got my SX from still hasn't shipped it after 3 days, I'm becoming impatient lol... For the magnets, my idea is simple but I think it will work. I'm going to use a bit thicker acrylic than the original box picture I posted and just do half-drilled holes with the magnets epoxied in for the door, then recessed magnets for the box. Should allow them to snap together firmly.

EJAB - Can you possibly post those pictures here? You'd be doing us a huge favor.

I'll keep trying.. I got it by emailing cherry@yihiecigar.com and asked for the +/- up-grade soldering pictures for the SX350. She might ask if you bought it at one of their authorized distributers first, so just include that you bought/ordered it from www.atozvaporworld.com or www.thehouseofvapors.com in your initial email. Hope this helps...

Very creative way to NOT have to make a cutout for the screen and/or screen cradle. Just make the box transparent! This is grand! Now you got me thinking about my own take on this concept. Thanks!

the green was the glued one.. orange does have screwed on cover. after i built a better box, i took the guts outa the green for the orange. has been trooping right along.

You're right! I thought the same, but I'm no electrician. YiHiEcigar had their soldering picture for the SX350 labeled WRONG! Their picture shows both a (+) and (-) port and it then showed a single port with 2 wires soldered to it (un-labeled). That's what confused me. Thanks again..

Nice!! How do you keep switching guts without damaging? What type of epoxy do you use to attach the chip? Thanks!

no epoxy. just make the boxes small enough to be a tight fit. if i have a little wiggle i put some foam tape against the side to keep it in place.

Glorious, I was also a bit shy about epoxying my chip in-place, especially because the shipping to South Korea costs almost as much as the chip itself. Glad to hear this works! One less thing I have to figure out myself.

How is your battery charging above 4.20 volts? My SX350, as well as my NiteCore i2 Intellicharger only charges up to 4.20 volts (better for the battery) Is your voltage reading a little off?

my sx350 chips read voltage a tenth high.. if you check at the battery when fully charged its 4.2 even though it says 4.3 on the screen. i am hoping the 50w update will correct this.

Your mods look great and you gave me some ideas. How did you cut your plexi?

I use a power miter saw. make sure you have a nice sharp finish blade or the plastic will melt and the edges will look like crap.

Perrry at varitube.com, has even better ones, they look the same as Fatdaddys, but, have a better pin/spring assembly (No current through spring). And, perry's are cheaper by 49cents! The Greatest 510's available for box mods. I've got several of Fatdaddy's here in my "To be built parts bin". And, aluminum boxes from Hammondmfg.com. They have some REALLY nice boxes, for people like me, who could NOT cut/fit a piece of wood/plastic for 7 figures. Now, IF I could SEE, and my Hands did not shake like a baby tree in a hurricane, MAYBE?

I've got 50 watt update, I never see 4.3 on screen, but, never have. Just got update today. They rushed it out, as the 40W was buggy in the first run of sx350's. YH would fllash on and off all the time after update, and thats all it would do. 50 watt DID correct that. But, I kinda like seeing my initials flashing on and off on screen

Fatdaddy has no current through the spring. And the 22mm washer looks great!! Plus it comes with the negative soldering connection washer.

Looks awesome!!! Any chance of getting more detailed pics of the orange one inside? I think I might go this route and want to see yours better. The pictures in your first post here were nice and big. Only if it's not too much trouble.
