synthetic nicotine

Does anybody know of a company that uses synthetic nicotine rather than
extracted from tobacco?

It would be fairly straightforward to determine synthetic from naturally occurring
nicotine. It is just the same as determining if something like gylcerine is
bio on petroleum based. Essentially, you do carbon dating.

Naturally occurring nicotine will contain some amount of C14 because they absorb
it during photosynthesis. Petroleum has been dead for so long that all of the
C14 has decayed (it is radioactive)

If you carbon date the nicotine it will either be close to billions of years old
or years old. How far it falls between tells you how much is biobased (natural)
and how much is petroleum based (synthetic)
