So Im looking to get into DIY juices

Im wondering though... do you guys use syringes with a blunt needle tip or without?

My friend uses it wothout, but since ill be ordering really small bottles of flavoring to start with... it seems itd be impossible to get out without the needle tip

Is there something im missing that could be negative to using one with the tip? Are they harder to clean and reuse? Cuz I dont plan on buying a new syringe for every time I make juice so this is important

Do you really need to replace syringes? like if I wanted to use the same set for a year.... aside from flavoring which prob need to get changed more often... could I keep using the same ones for pg/vg/nicotine as long as I cleaned them?

Thanks

Would permanent marker wash off with soap and hot water?

WB's referring to the ml marks on the syringes, I believe. They will wear off with use and washing, and I don't think it'd be accurate enough to redraw them on.

I used clear nail polish to preserve the markings.

But the only downside to using a syringe with a needle is that you have to be careful and consistent about the liquid level. My 14ga needle holds about 0.2ml of liquid, so I have to be careful when measuring. The liquid level is 0.2ml less than the actual volume of liquid in the syringe (including the needle). And it can take a while to draw pure VG, so get 14 gauge or smaller to help with that.

The needle is removable, so there is no downside to having one. The only time the needle is a problem is when drawing VG, since it is so thick. You can get by with a 14 gauge needle for VG and a little patience, and warming the VG beforehand helps too. Or just use the syringe with no needle as long as it fits in the container and reaches the liquid.

Permanent marker will wash off, and you probably don't want to be re-drawing the markings because you will lose accuracy, unless you are really good. But the disposables are not expensive, and if you put clear tape over the markings they will last a long time. Even if you don't, you will get several uses as long as you clean them carefully. Many of us just use hot water for cleaning.

Okay gotcha

I think im gonna get 10 and 20ml syringes, those are good sizes to start with right

I have 1,3,5,10,&20 ml syringes. They only cost a couple of bucks and as long as you clean them and take care of them they will last a long while. After I'm done cleaning them I pull out the handle and lube it with a little VG before I put it back and store them for the next time. I also use clear packing tape to cover the numbers and after numerous use and cleanings the numbers are as clear as the day I got them. Just my :2c:

I do not store syringes with a plunge in. They need a lot of time to dry out, and wet places a inviting bacterial growth.

Sorry didn't explain clearly. Cleaning would include drying. Good point

I use one for my base 10 ml that I just reuse after cleaning out. I use 24mg Unflavored 75/25 and then I have straight VG to make it 70/30 after adding the flavor. I pull the VG first as the tip doesn't go inside the bottle at all. The squeeze top is just big enough to stop it from entering the bottle. I then pull my base, wash, air dry so its ready for the next batch. I bought a bunch of 1 ml syringes just for the flavoring. I number each flavor and number the syringe even though I clean them as to not contaminate the other flavors. A BIG +1 on the tape over the markings, first syringe I used, marking came off on first wash. The tape helps a lot. I get my syringes for only .20 cents each.
