T2 clearomizer dry hit fix

Hi all -- I recently ordered some T2 clearomizers from altsmoke. The past few days with them have been frustrating. Dry hits, plasticy taste, etc.

Seemed to me to be a wicking issue. First few hits are great, then nothing. Only worked if I dropped my twist VV down to 3.5 volts or under (with 1.8 head). I also have some higher resistance heads I'm going to try.

However, I pulled off the silicone wick cover and, using some scissors, trimmed about 1mm off to start. Better hits, one after the other. I still can't take it above 4.0 volts, though. I may try trimming a little more, but I don't want any leaking issues.

I wonder about those wicks, though. I have had a lot of luck with the non-rebuildable (very short wick) version of the stardust I got off of altsmoke. In fact, they're my favorite so far. The low res version takes up to 4.6 volts. Thing hits like a train. No issues with it. I'm tempted to try the rebuildable versions of them that altsmoke has.

My question -- the T2 heads I bought are short wick, but the wicks are still twice as long as the stardusts. Could they perhaps be trimmed for better juice flow?

Odd. People don't seem to like the stardust, vs T2, but I keep screwing my stardust back on MYMW

If there is enough wick to trim then they are the long wicks. My short wick heads are just stubby wicks.
Out of the Box, short wicks, worked great at 4.2v for both the wife and I. Then I tried the long wick heads (3/4" long approx.) and they were giving nasty dry hits, hit after hit, with no flavor.
I cleaned the heads in a ultrasonic cleaner w/ PGA and dried. They performed great and the flavor was there.

I've removed the loose flavor wick and added my own (much longer), but I don't notice a difference besides not having to tilt-to-vape as much.
I prefer the T2 over the ego vision as their wicks seem to not 'filter' the juice. I haven't tried the new v3's, but I've had enough crap from vision that I cringe when I hear their name....lol.

As I see in those pics, the mod favors stubby wicks. I believe that's why my Stardusts perform so well. With them I get incredible flavor and vapor production.

I'll trim up one of the T2 wicks. That combined with slightly less silicone cap will probably help.

Hi Yinzer, i used my T2 for 3 days, love it, then decided i"d clean it. Set the head aside to dry and opened a replacement head to find longer wicks and no silicone cup/cap. So, i removed the silicone cap/cup and put it on the new head. Didn't work well....flooding. Then i figured the short wicks [1/4 inch] worked so well that i'm cutting these wicks. That seems to have solved the problem. I don't know if that's the finale solution ......if i should have added the silicone cup/cap..... but for now its working again.

I just trimmed the wicks so they touch the side of the tank. Vapes like a champ. 1.8 ohm head wicks fine even up to 4.4 volts.

Only problem, I'm getting a little bit of juice in the center tube / gurgling. This is with a standard silicone cap (not trimmed). However, once the juice reached the 2ml line and below, no problem. Hmm. More fiddling.

I see you're in Belle Vernon. I grew up out that way...Monongahela. Living in the North Side now. Rumor has it a vaping cafe is opening in Garfield.

I always had problems with DeKang juice. Would get up in the morning, always happened in the morning, and I would get these dry hits. There would be vapor but it would be thin and hot so it messed up your throat! But then I got some stuff made in the USA and they Must have been using more VG in theirs. Much thicker, better tasting and I haven't really had a problem with wicking too much at all.

I'm having so much luck with this unit. Like weeks of good, consistent vaping for much less than I was spending dripping. I do go through more juice, though.

Put my first long wick coil in tonight. It's hitting fantastic, but still starts to need to be laid on it's side at half a tank or less to keep the wick wet. I vaped a mil off this new coil in about 2 hours, I believe.

I use 20% VG from Tasty Vapor. US made. Love the stuff. Presently have boysenberry/waffle/caramel in that tank

My dad grew up in Monongahela.
Any name on your T2 or box ? I can't say for sure that mine is a Kanger T2, nothing says that.
I like my Vision v2, long and short wick, also. Other than a drop of liquid on the battery ive had no problems.

I made a thread on this same subject a few weeks ago. Trimming the silicon sleeve seems to work for some really well but mine flood when I do that. Even tried just little notches above the wicks and got a mouth ful of juice for my efforts. I still like them but only for my low voltage juices. Someone on that thread also learned that you can go higher voltage without the dry burnt hits if you use a quick hard draw on it. It works, and I do that sometimes but I prefer longer smooth draws personally.
