Tactile Switch-why do they work?

From many hours of reading very creative mods here (magnum,etc) - the tactile switch is rated at 50ma, yet 1+ amps is drawn by the atomizer.

Why doesn't the switch burn out?

I know this must be a stupid question, since it works, but I just have to ask.

BeRight--good question, but I can tell you the 50mA works great---Sun

Well, that is a continuous rating i guess. The one i use looks feeble but works great and doesnt get in the least warm. Because these have an inherent springiness, the contact made is a good one - it's either on or its off - so little contact bounce, half pressed, weak contact. And so much nicer to use than those clunky push against spring types.

The Switches are Rated With Voltages, Different Voltages Change The Amps & Vice Versa.

Without a technical data/spec sheet on this part we are only guessing.

So tactile switch rated at 12V 50ma = 600mw. This rating I am guessing is continuous operation. 1-5 sec operation rating is .

At say 5V what is current rating? Maybe 120ma continuous operation. Peek short term operation 1-5sec maybe ten times = 1.2amps
