I call this recipe Tahoe Treat. I have been making this in Reno now for some time for family and friends. I came up with the recipe originally for my wife who is PG sensitive, so I usually mix the VG version. There is still some PG in the flavorings, but not enough that it seems to bother her or others. After being told I should think about selling the blend, I figured I would rather share it with this great forum from which I have learned so much. I do a lot of reading here, not much posting, but I have been DIY mixing for about two years now.
I currently vape a number of different double coil RDAs at about .9 ohms with either organic cotton or Ekowool wicks and have found this recipe to be a truly pleasant vape, particularly in the evenings after supper. I put the basic recipe below for 10 & 15 ml batches. I am pretty heavy on the flavorings for Flavour Art, but it suits my tastes- always YMMV.
FA = FlavourArt; LA = LorAnn Natural; Signature sweetener; 20 drops= 1 ml for flavorings is my standard gauge. If you want more throat hit, you just use more PG in the blend and alcohol instead of water. I use Everclear (151 only in Nevada) or unflavored vodka, always when I mix it for folks that want the VG version. If I use a PG or 50/50 nicotine base with added PG, I often use water to dilute. I do not use distilled water, but rather prefer filtered water. I have tried both and found the distilled water seems to flatten the taste of my e-liquids. Since I build and clean my own coils, I have not found filtered water to add any increased residue. Tap water, however, does seem to add residue to the coils. Saline solution is also a good alternative for diluting.
I mix down to 9mg nicotine, sometimes 6 mg, for sub 1 ohm vaping. Otherwise, I seem to get too much nicotine from the vape, particularly in the evenings.
The blend improves a bit with steeping, but is fine if used after sitting overnight. Just shake it up well after mixing and before using. I have tried accelerating steeping: ultrasonic, warm baths and even microwaving it in a glass jar. Time seems to do just as well, or better.
If you use a higher level nicotine base just readjust. For example, using a 36 mg nicotine base for a 10 ml batch use 2.5 ml of your 36 mg base and 5.5 ml of VG and/or PG, as you need 8ml in total base before dilution and flavorings for a 10 ml batch. Extrapolate the numbers for larger batches.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Please remember safe battery usage if sub-ohm vaping, and to wash up well and quick, if you get nicotine on your skin. Hope you enjoy.
