Ok so before I posted this, I want to let everyone know I've watched videos and google'd some information.

So I don't do much rebuilding but I saw the taifun gt clone at a decent price and picked it up. Got it yesterday, washed it, and went to work. Built a coil in it similar to the micro coils I make in the protank bases.

I used organic cotton as the wick. The thing started off leaking out of the air hole like crazy. I figured I'd continue vaping on it. The leaking stopped and it was producing vapor like crazy. Flavor is a little disappointing.

I set down my device and went to bed, woke up my device covered in juice and the air hole leaking again, vaped it before work until the leaking slowed down a bit.

Anyone have tricks to get this thing to not leak when set down for awhile?

The Taifun is a GREAT RBA, but it can be finicky. Sounds like you need to dial in the correct amount of wicking material. Alot of folks using cotton will lay out the cotton in the ports, then fold over the ends to basically double the cotton just in the ports.
I use Cellucotton/Rayon in mine. CC doesn't expand like cotton, so you really need a thick wick to begin with. I extend my wicks out into the tank a good quarter inch. Not a drop of a leak or dry hit.
You're probably just not plugging those juice ports with enough wick. Show us a pic of your setup.

Was going to link to the above too, but he's faster.

Yeah thats what I'm figureing it was, wasn't sure if I was overlooking something....never saw someone fold over the wicks in the videos i watched so i may have to try that....thought i used enough cotton but i may have to rewick it this weekend

i'll try and take a picture when i get home, i wanted to bring it to work to see if i can finally take a rebuildable out of the house but once it was leaking i said no way

If you are doing a single microcoil around 1mm inner diameter, you will not have enough wick to keep it from leaking. Doing a larger coil around 2mm should give you enough wicking material to prevent it from leaking. I've even had problems with dual coils wrapped around 18ga needles.

When I am building my Taifuns with a smaller coil, I will place small amounts of extra wick material (I use rayon) into the wick slots to fill any gaps. I very rarely have a problem. I have not used the "fold over" method above but I'll bet it works just as well if using cotton or rayon, both have high capillary action allowing plenty of liquid into the heat chamber. I chose the filler wick method over the fold method because I want cut end fibers exposed to the fluid. That's my opinion and I'll never let a fact change it. :>)

I like the Taifun GT and have three one for each of my favorite flavors.

came home last night, i was exhausted and just took out the wick, left the coil but i couldn't get the cotton to go through and not grab on the other end so i took it all apart, built a slightly larger diameter and threw some cotton into it.

i'm not getting any leaking so far, my one buddy recommended to pull the coil up a bit higher than the posts, so i did that...only problem is i'm new to coils and even though it's a nice looking micro coil, it's 2.2 ohms, vaping great but i prefer a lesser ohm coil
