I assume you are looking at the fasttech forgery.

Based on what I have sitting in front of me for reference, the genuine Taifun GT is all SS construction, while the build deck of the clone is chrome plated brass. All parts interchange.

fasttech lists a stainless steel deck assembly (#1560100 SS threaded base) as a separate item. As I understand it, this new part was in response to a number of people complaining about the chromed brass. I have not seen this part in person, nor have I seen, in person, an all SS Taifun copy.

You will have to contact fasttech to see if what they are selling now is all SS, or still with a chromed brass build deck assembly, requiring you to buy the SS base as a separate part... if chromed brass bothers you that is.

FT is replacing the base with a SS one free, for anyone who got the chrome one

I have both and I hate to say it but the clone nails it spot on, im using a clone now as i have been testing it for a a day or so and i see no real differences. at least not enough to complain or worry about.
the few small differences dont affect the clone in any ways that i can see.

and they are to the point you will not see them or notice them unless you can handle both at the same time and even then you have to really pay attention to some very very small details that dont affect function.
If the quality of the clones stay consistent to the one I have, i give it a thumbs up lol

Ok well I just picked one up last week from a trustworth guy, somebody who wouldn't be caught dead with a clone. But then some dude PM's me saying that the clones have the R in the circle after "taifun" and the legit one doesn't. Is this true?

I have 2 real GTs. They have the ® after Taifun on the chimney tube.

it is my understanding that after the first batch the clone makers removed the R from the atty and packaging so they can be sold in germany without being seized.

the atty and box i have with my clone do not show the R but the tube clearly shows TaifunGT with a serial number the only place i can find the R is on the driptip but it is so small you cant really see it.

So i ordered one on Nov 18th from FT.. it still isnt here yet, so i think that it was on backorder or something, does anyone know if that means i'll be getting the SS base? or how would i go about getting them to send it to me if i got the brass one? And maybe it's just me, but that pic of the listing for the SS base doesnt look like real SS.
Anyone compared one of these to a fogger or kayfun yet? i imagine its light-years past the fogger, and im also considering selling my kayfun in favor of buying like 4 of these..

I saw on FT that it's now shipping with the SS base. I'm tempted to get one to play with. I had a Fogger v2 and didn't care too much for it..even for it's cheap price. I'm not a fan of the design, I didn't get too much flavor out of it. I'd like to get the real one but if it's the same, I'm not crazy about paying $100+ more for it, plus it's always out of stock.

I'm leary of mystery metals.. I don't chrome plated anything.. if this thing is full SS I might try one.

the Taifun GT is 10x the device the Fogger V2 is... just sayin' :)
agreed, I think, like a lot of others it is probably the only device in this class so far that is actually better then the KF (not by much though) the kayfun still wins by ease of setup though.

if it wasnt a constant limited supply preorder device and was made in the same quantity as the kayfuns I think they would definitely be more popular then they are now.

for what its worth the pics on fasttech dont match the item in your hand. its still a 1:1 clone but not the exact one pictured.(at least mine isnt) i think they probably used a preproduction or prerelease photo and didint change it.

I agree...mostly. For me, I actually find the Taifun easier to set up than the Kayfun. I prefer the Taifun over the Kayfun for a number of reasons. it holds more juice. You can rewick or recoil without emptying the tank. It's better looking, IMO. It vapes as well or better than the Kayfun.
If the originals were more readily available, I bet the Taifun GT would outsell the Kayfun.
