Ok so after owning/selling a good amount of mechanical tube mods, I have kept the ones i personally like and sold off the ones that didn't tickle my fancy all that much.

I am getting a little bored with all these new tube mech mods that come out because there all pretty much the same thing. I am going to take a break on the tube mods for awhile and now want to purchase my first Reo.

So far i have came to the conclusion that i want a Grand. I was about to purchase one but after going thru the forum here i seen that the Reo is about to be upgraded in some way to benefit sub ohm stuff.

Now, When any of us see the word UPGRADE we usually get excited and immediately want it ( even if we dont need it )

Should i hold off until this upgraded model is available? I think i read it will be a kit that can be purchased and installed into existing Reos, Is this true? or will it be a upgraded model itself?

A little about me... I own a few Mech mods and 2 Provaris. I like to drip a lot but hate the physical aspect of dripping. For dripping i use a typical rda ( Nimbus, Patriot, Omega ).. I am not a cloud chaser by any means BUT having the option to cloud up a room is always nice :2cool: I will strictly be using RDAs with the Reo. I am currently looking at the list of supported bottom feed RDAs.

My builds on my RDAs are usually between .8 - .6 ohms... I never go below .5ohms.

How low of a coil can the Reo Grand support without modding it? ( i briefly looked at the thread about the current mod that people are doing, I forget the name ) My question though is what can it support being stock?

With the updated Reo that will be coming out, What exactly will be upgraded? and i am assuming it will support low ohm builds and have better connectivity?

Any advice or comments that can help me before i purchase would be great.

Thanks

Haven't heard of any upgrade being released. People have been modding them recently to get a bit less voltage drop at low sub-ohm.

The Reos a mech so it will handle whatever your battery can push safely, sub-ohm people have noticed a voltage drop when they go low sub-ohm but I doubt you'll notice much at .8

here's the sticky for compatible BF atties, tho the Reomizer is really the way to go.

No reason to hold off. Rob has stated that he will make an upgrade kit available. Basically, the kit will PRIMARILY for sub-ohm vaping. However, the kit is to reduce the voltage drop, and as such would be of benefit to all vapers.

Through the testing that people have been doing, the Reo will support down to 0.5 ohm. I say this because when running for a period of time at 0.4 the safety spring will sag. Reports indicate that the sag happens within an hour using 0.3 ohm coils. There has been no reported sagging at 0.5 ohm.

Rob has not stated what will be upgraded. The thread talks about upgrading the negative post safety spring, the positive post firing pin and the 510 connector. Rob has stated that he will be looking at "springs and electrical contacts" so it looks like 2 of the 3 identified areas of voltage drop will be addressed.

Any advice or comments that can help me before i purchase would be great.

Thanks

My advice (no surprise here) is to step up and get a Reo now. My wife has been using one for over a year now, and you could not pry a Reo out of her hand. I have been using them for about 4 months now, and I agree. It is an excellent trouble free mod. In the event that you decide you need your Reo upgraded, and do not feel comfortable doing it yourself, I am sure you will be able to send it back to Rob for the upgrade. He currently charges $23 for a complete rebuild on a mechanical Reo now, and I do not see that the price will be that much greater for the upgrade. (Should you desire him to do it for you.)

Performance on a stock REO Grand is great for the resistance you like to vape at, maf.

I don't see any point in waiting for upgrades, as the "upgrade kit" will be easy enough to install. If you can disassemble and clean one of your current tube mods (switch, 510, etc.) you'll be able to do it yourself when the kit is available. I very much enjoyed vaping at .4-.5Ω on a stock REO Grand. The upgrade is just a bonus.

The auto fuse mod is super easy to do, if you get the REO right away, and don't want to wait for the kit. The following thread has MULTIPLE takes on how you can do it . .. take your pick.

I would get a stock grand if I were you. I run 1ohm coils and the vape is amazing even with the stock spring. The stock REO can still run .4ohm coils just fine, but there is slightly more voltage drop than some other mech tube mods. If you are running .8ohm coils I am positive you will find that the REO produces amazing vapor. I have done a fues mod to the REO, but that was really just for fun, when I run 1.2ohm coils the only benifit I see is longer battery life, which really isn't nessisary since a 1600mah lasts all day anyway.

That being said, I will be getting the Upgrade kit.
