Ok so im new to dripping and I just ordered an iGo W with 28 gauge Kanthal and I'm going to be using it on my MVP 2. I guess what I need to know is if shorting out will be an issue, how many Wraps should be good for around a 2 ohm coil, and what voltage should I stay around. Also anything else u think I need to know before I take a stab at this would really be helpful

First off, dripping is awesome and the Igo's are a great bang for the buck. If you're aiming for 2 ohms, you may want to look at 30 gauge as you're going to need a bunch of wraps of 28g to get to that sort of resistance. Also, you're going to run it in single coil configuration I assume? I think that's the only way you're going to get in that vicinity. Not terribly familiar with the MVP2 - how low can it go as far as ohms are concerned?

I would recommend doing a bit more research.

In order to figure out how many wraps to do, you have to know the diameter of the object you are wrapping your kanthal around. There are a bunch of good calculators out there to figure out a good estimate for number of wraps. There is even a great app if you have an android phone.

There are plenty of youtube videos out there to learn how to build coils.

Read this.
how many Wraps should be good for around a 2 ohm coil,
2.0Ω, as has been stated, is not practical for 28 gauge. Build a single 28 gauge coil - 9/8 wraps on a 2mm or 11/10 on a 1.5mm mandrel... compressed. Either way it will be 1.3Ω+/-.
This resistance will utilize the full current potential of the MVP2... which is 3 amps. Going below is a wasted effort.

and what voltage should I stay around.
10-11 watts to start for a 1.3Ω coil.
Also anything else u think I need to know before I take a stab at this would really be helpful
Run cotton through the coil and build a cotton "bed" below it... just "snug" on the pull through wick.

Click on my second sig line hyperlink. Read it and all the linked information within.

I believe the lowest it will read is 1ohm just like the provari but I could be wrong.

I believe Mr. gtalpaz met, how low will it fire, or... how low a resistance will it support with amperage parity... rather than, how low it will "read" resistance.

The MVP2 will fire to around 0.8Ω+/-, although this resistance, requiring 3.7 amps @ 11 watts, won't be fully supported.
It will support, with proportionate amperage, for the available wattage... 1.3Ω+/- @ 3 amps/11 watts.

This is a great place to get all those questions answered. So ask away!

While I agree that you would have been better off with 30ga, at least your igo has enough room for a 2 ohm 28ga coil.
The number of wraps is dependent on the diameter of the wraps. So don't get discuraged if it takes you more than one try to get it right.
(trust me, you don't even wanna know about my first tries at wrapping coils)

You'll be fine and your Mvp will be fine. It won't fire if there is a short. It will read "non". You don't need a meter yet because the mvp has a ohm reader. You can safely build a coil and enjoy(or not) the dripping experience.

    To get 2 ohms with 28ga I wrap 15-16 wraps on a 1 /16 drill bit.
