Taking apart the SB button cap

I was wondering if there is any instruction to take apart the button cap on the SB. I bought the BSB, and the finish is starting to chip off around the battery connector (i also dropped it once when it fell out of my pocket onto the sidewalk), so I was thinking about refinishing the whole thing by polishing it up. The main reason for taking it apart is i don't want to scratch up my pretty button

I have not posted any instructions on taking the SB apart, I have always had them sent to me for any repair. There is nothing top secret in it You could use Aircraft stripper to remove the powder coating. Just cover the button with a bit of masking tape.

different but similar question: the omega i'll be paying for soon (i've been borrowing it for like a month or more from a friend) is the chrome finish, i believe (no tarnishing like was seen on the original nickel finish ones). if i were to want to paint it, what would i need to do in order to make the paint adhere well, not look like crap, etc.?

Hmm, not really sure how to paint over the chrome... I know with plain aluminium you would need a few coats of self etching primer before painting.... Be sure to mask the threads and slide are would be most important.

that's what i was thinking. no worries, just a thought i was having. it's beautiful in chrome, and it's my first non-black PV (aside from my markmod, which is made of wood ).
