Months ago I got a nickel plated GGTB and it's been my every day vaping machine. From all the wear and tear it started looking a bit ragged. It's hard to tell by the pic (looks 100% worse in real life), but it's half brass and half nickel; and pretty much scratches and filthy. Nickel is a great surface as it's very durable...but nothing lasts forever.

So, I did a complete disassemble and cleaned it up and used 180 grit to remove the rest of the nickel plating. Then, up the grit scale to 1500. I like the nice soft glow of brass with a patina so I left it at 1500 and put a couple of coats of poly to protect it from tarnish and future scratches.

Here's how it came out....it's ready for another 1000 hours of vapin'.

Para, you had the satin finish GGTB that had a problem with the plating? I have recalled all of them in case my customers had a problem. But I saw that you did a more clever move. Nice job buddy, very good looking GGTB:)

Imeo, the only problem I had with plating was I used it so much it wore off. It's pretty easy to detect plating problems and there was nothing wrong with the process or thickness. This GGTB got handled, pitched, tossed, and dropped.....in other words used a lot and held up pretty well considering.

Frankly I'm glad it wore off like it did because it gave me an opportunity to make it like I like it. Question: Will you make all brass top and bottom caps in the future? An all brass model would be awesome looking.

+1 on the brass caps -- I love the way they look on my GGTSs.:thumb:

from now on all the GGTS will be with brass end caps. Its a nice idea to do that with GGTB too. Also I will make some all gold GGTBs but a little later guys:)

i love my all brass GGTB, it's gorgeous! imeo, when you say that all GGTS will be made with brass end caps from now on, you don't mean the stainless steel GGTS as well, right?

I mean the steel version BuGG. I always liked the brass end caps and the way they are made you can clean them too easy, they have flat surfaces. So the steel GGTS will have brass bottom cap, brass lid and nickel - plated CR. The rest will be steel.

ouch, can you make some without the brass and nickel, just steel?

I am a bit dissapointed about hearing this. The whole reason I was excited to see the ggts in stainless is not having to worry about the threads wearing out. I really hope enough people agree and we change your mind.

Edit; To para I meant to say nice job on your ggtb but I got distracted by the other post. So, Nice Job!

Guys, there is nothing to worry about threads for 1 reason:

Threads made from bronze doesnt need any cleaning. Bronze threads have a nice brown colour when time pass, nothing special. Also there is no need to clean anything because current doesnt pass from bottom cap and lid

I like gold caps. They give a prestige to GGTS to my opinion. I will make the best GGTS ever, no worries

How about a compromise, offer both? I would pay extra for all stainless. I love all stainless stuff. I know what you mean about the prestigious look but I am not a very prestigious person lol. As far as the threads go, I have stripped out a couple different connectors on mods and they were both brass connectors. Also, I see wear and tear on my other mods with brass connectors and no wear at all on the steel ones. Also there is no need to clean steel either, at least not for a long time. I am not trying to be rude or anything, I am just offering my experiences and opinion. I know that with gg you usually do what people ask for and I think when most people think of a steel ggts, they are thinking of an all steel ggts because of the fact that the body of the ggts is not the part that needs as much durability as the top and bottom cap. Again, just my opinion and thoughts. thanks

connector will be from steel atavan, no worries about that.

end caps are the ones that dont need durability, exactly the opossite of what you said buddy. Lid is a small thing on the top of the CT and the front cap holds only the pin where button touch. They are the non important things:)

Awesome ! I do love brass....it's warm and is VERY classy. Contrasting accents are as old the 1st metal workers. I appreciate everyone has their preferences and what I like someone else won't....but the look is stunningly beautiful (to me)

I don't believe I've ever heard of bronze being used before and look forward to that. It's incredibly durable and adds color.
