Months ago I got a nickel plated GGTB and it's been my every day vaping machine. From all the wear and tear it started looking a bit ragged. It's hard to tell by the pic (looks 100% worse in real life), but it's half brass and half nickel; and pretty much scratches and filthy. Nickel is a great surface as it's very durable...but nothing lasts forever.
So, I did a complete disassemble and cleaned it up and used 180 grit to remove the rest of the nickel plating. Then, up the grit scale to 1500. I like the nice soft glow of brass with a patina so I left it at 1500 and put a couple of coats of poly to protect it from tarnish and future scratches.
Here's how it came out....it's ready for another 1000 hours of vapin'.
