Hey guys and gals. Just wanted to pop in with an intro.
I'm Steve from LA and I can't wait to vape. :)
I ordered a 510 Riva set the other day due to some AMAZING people in the irc that helped me pick it out. I'm hoping I can get used to the whole ecig experience rather quickly and dump the analogs. Also hoping I'm comfortable with the cartos because for some reason my gut says I might have wanted to go with a tank (even with complaints of leakage).

All in all- I'm excited to vape and glad that I found a forum of people who are ready to help out the noobs.

I had the tanks as my second ecig and I didn't stick with it for long. It might be for you but honestly the majority of people with the tanks don't tend to get on with them and end up with something else. I still use my from time to time but they're meh compared to the other things I use.

A CE2 is probably a much better solution to a tank (if it's the EgoT type system you mean). It's like a cartomiser atomiser hybrid and I only say that because if you take care of it it'll outlast a cartomiser by a long way. Worth looking into maybe, I know there's a few that wouldn't agree with me and some that would praise CE2s as much as I would.

Some could also say to get an EMDCC (Ego mega dual coil cartomiser) that holds more liquid than a tank and should perform better for a lot less money than a tank atomiser would. It's like a really big metal cartomiser lol Just a suggestion!

A riva and some cartos is a pretty sure bet to get started. I wish I'd gotten something that like the first time I bought an ecig and saved some money, you know? It should work out for you, and if not, the most expensive part is buying the whole kit (batteries, charger, juice etc). Just buying the heating device you want to try out with it is a lot cheaper so rest assured you can mix and match really easily if you want to try out a tank instead :)

Good luck with it and I hope it works out for you!

Welcome cuban! I'm only a few weeks into vaping and if I have any noob-noob advice to give you it would be this - just focus on replacing smoking with vaping. Don't worry about the biggest and best or newest and 'neatest' thing out there. There will always be something bigger and better, but it doesn't mean that your set up won't be perfect for you.

I nearly went NUTS reading all the information on the forum and constantly second-guessing my decisions/purchases. I went on a buying spree and would buy something that came highly recommended and then read about how someone hated it and then second guess myself again. lol. I bought my second starter kit before I even received my first kit, or had even tried vaping!

This forum is filled with really great information from really fabulous and helpful people. All of that great information can also confuse the heck outta you and make you second guess every decision, too!! lol.

I'm sure you'll be happy with your set up, and I really hope it helps you get off analogs! I smoked over a pack a day and then got my pv and only smoked a couple of analogs a day for the first few days and have been smoke-free ever since.

Keep asking for advice and recommendations from veterans, because they can provide really great insight, but start with the most important step of all - cutting back on, or quitting analogs. That will be the best decision you could ever make!!

Best of luck on your vaping journey, and see ya around the forum!!

There's something to what lunabella says. Unless you're very lucky, there will be room for improvement in whatever you get. Also as you gain experience, you might find there are things you want that you don't really want now. However, you have to start somewhere. This forum will help you avoid some of the pitfalls but, we aren't you. Once you have some experience, you'll know what you want to improve.

You're likely to go through a phase where you have to try everything in sight. This is a very dynamic market and there are new things coming out all the time. Wait a while to try something new. Get a basis to evaluate a new setup. If you get a tank system, it's pretty cheap to give cartos or dripping a try but, settle into something before you start spending a lot of money.

Good luck! The riva set up was my second choice and I may end up getting one for my FIL after I let him try my e-cig to see if he might want to give it a go.

I think you will be reasonably happy with the cartos, and it's a great place to begin as they seem to be less fiddly than other options. You can always get a tank later on if you want to try it. A lot of people really like the syringe type tanks. They can be quite inexpensive, and don't seem to have the leaking problems that the ego type tanks have. You can make your own if you are crafty, or you can find many variations pre-made from different vendors.

Thanks for the welcome folks! Glad to see some irc peeps in here :)

I spent a good portion of my day looking at all the options I had before making my purchase the other day. I was decided. Then unsure. Then decided. This went on all day. Haha! After talking a while I HAD to say I'm going to stop looking and went ahead and ordered. Then kept looking ::cool::

I do know I NEED to get off analogs so I am hoping over time I can get down to a very low nic level and maybe just enjoy vapping for the flavors only.

I did order a drip tip as well with my pv...

Unfortunately, it looks like I am getting avoided by the guy I ordered from. I ordered on Mon and I still have no shipping info and the site says they are out of stock. The "store" is located 25 miles away from me but the guy said he is not willing to allow me to pick it up.

When I spoke with him yesterday, he was going to check on my order personally and call me back within the hour, that didn't happen. I guess I will be cancelling my order (if possible. And if I don't hear back from him by noon) and trying to find a new place to buy from :(
