VAS rears it's ugly head for yet another "What should I buy?" thread. :)

At about 6 mos into vaping I have a nice little routine set; coffee voop when I wake up, light ADV till dark, rich/desserty vape from dark till bed. My little Istick 30 does well for my morning voop/vape, and I swap out rda's on my Istick 50 from then on. I would like to get a dedicated mod for my nighttime vape so I don't have to swap out rda's.

Here's my dilemma. I would love to try something different but I just can't find anything that meets my needs better than my Istick 50. Love the battery life, love the size, love the placement of buttons and usb port. Love the fact that they are now under $50 delivery included. I've had good luck with chipsets (no auto fire issues) but have noticed some wonkieness with it spontaneously changing the readout from watts to volts and the occasional auto shut down. Nothing a few button presses won't fix.

So talk me into something different that meets or exceeds the specs of my Istick. I'm a low to mid range vaper- .8 ohm coils at 3.6 v/17 w. Gotta be regulated. Gotta have good battery life. I'm scared of swapping out batteries daily so usb charging is a must (and the usb port can't be on the bottom.) And (most importantly) it's got to be in the $50 range.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions. :)

there's the mvp3.0 pro
60 watts.

sooner or later that istick is going to die, so having another something is going to happen anyway.
Thanks to you and MatyTny for the quick replies. The mvp3.0 pro is in the running as well as the Coolfire4. The mvp is kind of bulky and I've been tempted by the Coolfire4 but it only has a 2000 mah bat. Either one could fill the bill but I would love more suggestions. :)

I saw an MVP plus and was as impressed with it as my trusty old MVP2... I got one used coming from the trade forums cheap... But the smok x-pro m80 plus is another option to look at as well... to be safe and reliable I would take the MVP though. It outlasted my provari... just sayin...

Im a fan of the Evic VT, my next mod will be the Evic VTC mini. You get to try out temp control also on the evic VT if you are using nickle coils, out and a bout i use TC mode with an artic with ni200 coils and at home i drip around .35 ohms
Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't really considered temp control because it's not something I will use. At 17 watts the vapor stays pretty cool as it is. By the time I'm pushing 50 watts or more I'm sure there will be lots of temp control mods to choose from that even work with kanthal. ;)

I still have an MVP2.0 that works well for powering my dry herb atty. It's built like a tank, I just outgrew it for vaping.

I just pulled up Phil's vid on the m80... looks interesting will have to more research. Thanks for the suggestion.

ETA: Darn it...usb on bottom. Gotta lay it on its side to charge. Not good idea for dripping.

Hi there,
I would like to apologize formost at i am certain my suggestion would not suit what you want in general. BUT, here me out

I would suggest you to go for something with dual battery capabilities and also with external charging and possible to swap batteries. Sometimes when your luck runs out the internal battery charging doesnt work anymore and sometimes shorts out. I am using an IPV4S and initially i wanted to go for a Sigelei 150watt TC. Its pricey but its worthed. Why? Some say if you are not gonna go sub ohm why get powerful mods? If you ask me, its true why waste money on extra accesories when u dont need them? But there are pros on having that extra something2. The batteries last much much longer if you plan to vape at your current setups. I have a .8 setup too on my subtank plus and it lasted 2 days and the battery meter is still about half. Its a bit bulky, i dont think you would like it. Its heavier a little, but if you are looking into something to have a long term relationship, APVs are a go go. Who knows, one day you would wanna try bigger setups, lower ohms, you might even wanna contribute to make more clouds for the community!

Trust me,
I am an engineer...

I can't argue with your logic and experience. You do get what you pay for. My problem with external batteries is twofold:

1. Fear of F-ing up. Just last month Nick Green mentioned in his Vlog about having a battery go critical because he absent mindedly put it in upside down. If an OG vaper like Grimm can mess up - odds are 99.44% that I will. So even if I get a mod with a swapable battery I would prefer to leave in place and charge by usb port till it's time to throw the bat away.

2. I'm tighter than Dick's hatband. Gotta buy the batteries. Gotta buy quality brand name bats or they blow up. Gotta buy two at a time so they can get married or something. Gotta by a charger. Can't be a cheap charger or it blows up. Nickle and dime on extra stuff till it doubles the price on the mod. ;)

All so true there haha! Well, i cant say much there. One time my mom dropped my beloved kangertech subox mini. It didnt explode but the battery came out and my mom panicked and put it all back in not knowing plus minus. Then when i woke up it doesnt switch on. WTF happened to my subox! Opened up, ok, luckily it has reverse polarity protection lol.

Doing what you're comfortable with is always easier, but as an owner of a slew of 18650 batteries and devices, I can tell you it's much less daunting than it seems.

If you really don't want external batteries, you can't beat those istick 50W for size and battery life.

However, if you want a mod that can do anything for down the road, my Sigelei 100Ws have been great for the price. Vaporrange and Elev8 have great prices right now on the 100W+. No tc, big, but really well made. And the reverse battery protection works. I've put one in wrong at least twice myself.

MVP Pro is nice but bulky and not as comfortable in hand. It is a solid device and I am glad I got one. Sounds like you should just get another iStick 50 and call it a day.

I was really drooling over the MVP Pro when it first came out but the longer I waited the more it started to look like a brick. A very pretty and useful brick but still... ;)

I can understand your fear of external batteries. It took me a while to gather the courage to give it a go. It's not complicated at all. Almost all regulated mods have reverse polarity protection. And think of the cost of the batteries and charger as an investment. Batteries die. It will be a lot cheaper in the long run to replace a set of 18650s, then the whole mod. You can get good priced, authentic batteries here

Illumn.com - Flashlights, Batteries, Carry Gear, Intelligent LED Lighting, and More!

And I have to give a +1 on the ipv4s. That and the ipv3 Li, with the yihi chip are solid performers. As a former istick 50w owner, I can say, the difference is noticeable, even using the same watts.
