Tank Battle: Kayfun Vs. Kraken... and GO.

Huh? I'm talking about an RDA with a tank system above the coils that you can drip any viscosity juice easily, doesn't leak, easy to use etc. What did you think I meant? A kayfun? I'm using one right now and love it. I was asking about a different beast.

Totally misread you. Figured you were referring to the devices I had asked about. Sorry about that.

attitude? Lol. I read and re-read my post and no where is there attitude. I simply pointed out an issue that you identified in your first post but appeared too lazy to do on your own. I don't even have to go 3 pages back to find a handful of threads on the Kayfun. Personally, your post may be more productive if you researched on your own and came up with a list of questions rather than the blanket statement of "any arguments/recommendations for the Kayfun vs kraken" in your first post. Also, how am I supposed to know that you understand these are different tanks based on your first post? You don't mention it anywhere.

If you would like me to be constructive, alright. Have you looked at the Erlkonigin or the Rose? Why the kraken when there are many other genesis style RBAs out there? Do you want clone or authentic?

And as you can tell from the responses in this thread, it is all about personal preference. You just need to identify what you are looking for in an RBA and jump in.

Thank you for that. You're right. I have read a lot of posts about the Kayfun and the Kraken, but hadn't seen one recently that referenced both of them quite as clearly as I was looking for.

Since this is a forum-type venue (not just an encyclopedia) I figured I could simply ask my question to open up dialog on my own thread that could participate in, since I need 5 posts in this New Members Forum section before I can do anything else anyway. I could have just settled for the "Hello, I'm New" or "#4 or 5 Posts" subject line, but I wanted to reference something that might be interesting to someone. Not exactly lazy, considering I actually tried to start something new without being painfully new (fail), but yes, I was cutting corners and playing by the rules.

To answer your questions, I know the basics about both style RBAs, but not a lot more than that. I like the Kraken for the looks, the Kayfun for the possibilities and after market options. I can deal with the operation and performance of either, I suppose, as long as they both hold more liquid than the average dripper and I'm able to build the coils myself. I will probably end up with a clone first, given the availability and price (and, at times, quality), but have no issue with fairly priced authentics, of course.

I have not looked into the Erlkonigin or the Rose, and I appreciate the suggestion. I do kind of dig the Steam Turbines and others, but the Krakens and Kayfuns seem to have a much more numerous user base, so I figured I could ask about the most popular ones first, assuming more first-hand info was readily available. I can check out websites all day and still not get an idea how these things actually work and vape. I'm trying.

A few people have given me their take on the pros and cons of these two tanks in this thread, exactly as I was hoping they would, with exactly the kind of opinions I was looking for. I really appreciate that. Maybe I was just looking for dialog as much as anything, knowing I'd learn something more in the process.

Thanks again for your thoughts, "Huh!?"

Interesting screen name, BTW. I am trying not to have any suspicions about why you chose that particular handle in this case, but I find it hard to believe that is your permanent user name. This forum is just like every other forum community I've used over the last 25 years. A bunch of people gathering to discuss their thoughts and share in reference to a subject they are all interested in. There will be veterans, noobs, a pecking order, etc... I get it.

Never got into genny style devices, so I can't speak to them. Perhaps someday I will. The Kayfun OTOH, is in my opinion a must have vaping device. Kind of like a salt shaker in the kitchen. They just perform well all the time with little to no trouble. Easy to build, and flavor all day long.

Thank you, coalyard. Exactly what I was looking for. :)

Pretty sure I'm just going to need to grab a KF and get a Kraken at some point too.

We are all here to learn and we each have different ways for what works best for us. Not trying to come off like a d|ck. Important thing is vaping and staying off cigarettes (at least for me).

As for my screen name, it actually is huh?!. Used it for the last 10 years on different forums lol. I like the ambiguity of it. vape on.

I quit ciggies officially almost a week ago. This forum has been a frequent stop for me well before that. Right with ya.

Regarding your screen name: LOL! That's pretty awesome if it's been your standard. 20 years ago I chose "Jaffo" based on the old acronym, "Just Another F*^king Observer"... because that's usually all I am. Cheers.

I have both a Kayfun style tank and a Kracken. The Kracken was just given to me for free recently. I also saw that Youtube vid of a guy doing a single coil/double cotton wick build, so I built mine like that yesterday. The build was an easy slam dunk. lol. The only thing I don;t like about Kracken tanks is that little rubber nipple to plug the fill hole. For the life of me I couldn't get it to plug into the hole. Its location right next to the center post ect... Even w/ tweezers and 10min of monkeying around w/ it. lol. The vape tasted burnt even after full wick prime. I emptied the tank and put the Kracken back in the drawer. I may try some other style builds on it later. My first impression is that I don;t like it. I take my Russion 91% EVERYWHERE. :)
