The Kanger Sub Tank will perform very similar to the Atlantis. I have both, and use them both all day. There is some difference,
but not any that would address your problem. The most common culprit is using a juice that is too high in nicotine. If you were using 16-18 nic level prior to the Sub Tank, you will have to drop to at least 6, in my opinion, maybe even 3. The "direct lung inhale" from a Sub can also create coughing until you get used to it. That was my experience, for what it's worth...

By the way, the Aspire CF Sub battery is not a variable device, so it fires at 35-40 watts constantly, with a drop in voltage as the battery weakens.

I would wait on getting a whole new set up. I found the 2 coils that came with my Atlantis were quite harsh, especially at first. But today I put one of my replacement coils in from a 5 pack I bought, and its smooth as silk. MASSIVE difference. Also they may be releasing all cotton coils soon which should get ride of that harshness that I believe comes from the other material they use in there currently. One of my coils was so bad I had to stop vaping for a bit because it was hurting my throat, but this new coil not a cough yet, like night and day. If you want to spend some more money, pick up the Eleaf iStick 30w or 50w, that will give you variability on the wattage which makes a big difference on the Atlantis.

I usually make up my juices at 3-4mg for my Atlantis, I go through a lot of juice. Also as stated before the CF Sub-Ohm battery isn't adjustable, it fires at roughly 20-25W I believe depending on charge. I mostly set my Atlantis at 27W, still blows clouds, but much smoother and more enjoyable vape than I find at 30+, which I have seen many others use it at, although it can handle it, 70% VG juice and I only got a dry hit when I chain vaped at 35W. Big thing about this too could just be the coil though, hopefully they release full organic cotton coils soon, but once I use the pack I have I will be rebuilding them all with the cotton myself. I don't know the scale of what you want to get into, but if you order a bit of coil making supplies, you can save yourself some cash in the long run.

I've yet to hear from anyone or even hear of many people that can rebuild Atlantis coils with any success and without a major hassle. Tha Kanger OCC coils are a snap to re-wick and rebuild, even easier than the RTA option that it offers. The Atlantis is another beast however. I would love to be able to rebuild them. Can you post pics or a video of your process?

I think you should be looking for a different battery rather than a different tank. With a variably wattage mod, you can dial it down so that it's not as harsh. The CF Sub Ohm is not a regulated device and at full charge is pushing 4.2V to any tank that's sitting atop it. Go with a 30W or 50W VW mod & low nic juice and you should be good to go.

I haven't rebuilt one yet, my wire and coiling tools are in the mail currently, should be here next week. There are plenty of videos on YouTube of rebuilding the Atlantis coil in 2 different ways, one is to redo the vertical coil, which is a bit trickier to get installed but seems to be the best for wicking and reliability. The other is to swap it to a single bottom coil, thread cotton through the air holes and the coil and snip it off. I will probably play around with both builds to see which works better for me.

Ive seen the videos myself, and tried a couple, but I could never get it right. At $4.95 a coil versus an hour of frustration and cursing convinced me to stick with stock Atlantis replacements and get my building fix elsewhere. Good luck, you're probably younger and have better eyesight and more stable hands than I do, lol.

I buy 'em in 5 pks, $12.95 at sweet-vapes and vapenw. I've talked with a few people who've tried rebuilding them and either get burnt or flooding because of too much or too little cotton. One guy did the horizontal rebuild and said it flooded, he was at wits end the next week and just bought a new coil. May take some patience and practice before you get it right. I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens. Way I look at it, if it takes more than 20 min to rebuild the coil its not worth my time.

I had this same experience. My Atlantis with the first coil it came with was crackling and would spit molten drops of juice into my mouth every time I pushed the button. I had all but given up on the Atlantis because I felt like I was getting a sore throat every time I used it, but my Nautilus mini seemed smooth enough. This morning I put in a new coil from the 5-pack, on a fluke, and OMG what a difference!!! I couldn't put the thing down. There is no pronounced crackling & spitting, rather a slightly louder version of the hissing and very mild cracking that the Nautilus does. I'm stoked.

One other thing. When I inspected the coil that came with the Atlantis, I peered down through the coil and I noticed that the center portion of the coil seemed a darkened color, sort of like the burners on an electric stove, whereas the beginning and end portions of the coil were shiny silver. With this new coil from the 5-pack, the whole coil is shiny silver all the way from top to bottom of the coil. I don't know if this is a factor, but when I removed the older one, it was severely gunked up only in the area of the coil that had been darkened. Other than the gunked up center portion, the integrity of the coil seemed solid.

I have 2 atlantis tanks and 2 sub ohm batteries. Love the setup and I'll share my experience with them. Nicotine level definately plays a part in it. I find 3mg to be good. If it sound low just think about it. Your getting bigger hits so youre actually getting more nicotine. Types and brands of juice even at the same nicotine level can be smoother or harsher than others. Sometimes you can get a lousy tasting replacement coil. I do rebuild the coils with japanese organic cotton because of what I saw on you tube. Aspire uses a silica wrap in their coils with the cotton. It flakes off and you end up inhaling it. This has caused great concern to people using the Atlantis tank. I dont want to rebuild them I would rather replace them for the cheap cost but I dont want to take any chances. I'm hoping that Aspire comes out with organic cotton coils without the silica wrap and them I will just replace instead of rebuild. I have been considering the new Kangar tank for this reason. Go on the Aspire website and you can find a few threads about the concern of the material being used. They assure everyone that they are safe but would you trust people that sold toothpaste with anti freeze in it ?

Say what? Your statement makes it sound like an irrefutable fact, but in reality it is not a "fact" that anyone is inhaling bits of the wick with Aspire coils. It is far more likely, that gunk builds up on the coils and then pops loose due to higher power used with the Atlantis. It is possible to just change the coil more frequently, based on how it looks when filling the tank. Right?

I think your toothpast/anti freeze analogy is an attempt to induce an emotional response in the minds of newbies.
