Tank has to "warm up"?

Hello

I have a Kayfun Lite Plus. I have to take around 10-15 puffs before I stop getting harsh hits and things become smooth. It isn't burnt or dry...just harsh. It seems like the tank and the juice have to warm up before it starts hitting as intended. While harsh, it still has flavor and vapor. Anybody know what's up with this? I have experienced it on clear tanks occasionally but this is a constant with the Kayfun.

I'm on a mech mod with a 28g 1.5 ohm coil. 100%VG juice. Same effects with different levels of nicotine but typically use 8-12mg. I previously used too much wick and have cut it down on this build and it works so much better with less wick. I had the same issue when I had more wick, though.

Is this common? I would like to just pick up and vape smoothly.

Sounds to me like the high VG content of your e-liquid isn't wicking properly. Those 10-15 puffs are creating enough negative pressure in the tank to pull sufficient liquid into the chamber. However, it's odd that those 10-if initial puffs aren't dry or burnt.

Try a liquid with a higher PG content. I'd be willing to bet it'll help.

I think I know what you mean. I get 10-15 hits that give me a small burning feeling in my throat. Then after those, it smooths out again. It seems to happen in fruitier juices. Although I get it every once in a while on my non-fruity juices as well. I think it had to do with over-saturation of the wick. I have been leaving my tanks sit up side down when not in use, and then I let them sit for about 30 seconds when I re-attach to battery. It seems to cut the harsh hits out.

I vape 50/50 juice and I have never had this problem. Not sure if this is happening to you all the time, or just after a fresh build.. but if it's after you rebuild the coil and insert a new wick, make sure you're priming the wick by dropping some juice on there before you screw the chimney on. That way you won't get any dry hits and you're wicks are already full of juice.

I vape 30PG/70 VG juice with a Kayfun and get satisfying vapes from the very beginning. Typically, if I put out a new toppers I take a couple of primer puffs before firing it up, just the way I learned to do it.

When doing a new coil or new wick, I always soak the wick before installing the chimney. Like you, and probably just about everybody who makes their first few cotton wicks, I used too much in the beginning. Thanks to the great folks here, I learned to make a great wick!

And, WELCOME to ECF!

It's like what swanysto said.

I can't imagine that the wick would lose a whole bunch of juice just by sitting in the tank unused. Last time I rebuilt I took the old wick out after having sat for hours and I was able to squeeze out a solid 6 drops of liquid. If that's not saturated enough to get smooth hits I might as well start drinking the juice haha

When building I definitely saturate the wick. I have experienced burnt hits before and they are gnarly! I do whatever I can to avoid them.

Just came back from lunch and had the same effect when starting out. Rough at first but smoothed out. Next time I will try giving it a few pulls without firing and see where that lands me!

I can tell when my battery is getting low because it takes a small draw on my tank before I get any noticeable vapor.
