tank screw paint bleeding into juice? pics inside

just got a mini sub from mom and pop, put some butterfly bait in it awesome vape then I put it down for a few and came back and there was this greenish stuff mixing with the juice. It's the color from the black screw anyone experience this?

No experience with those tanks or that problem but I would guess its tarnish from coming in contact with the liquid. Might try finding a good SS or nickel plated bolt with the same thread pitch. It wont tarnish so you wont have that problem although it might be tricky finding one thats stippled like the black one.

Doesn't look like I would be vaping the rest of that juice. Maybe take your tank to a hardware store and try some screws until you find one (preferably plastic) that fits.

Maybe plug the hole and secure the tank another way? Bottom and top clamps?

I found a screw that very similar in the mean time, I was so excited lol I dumped it clean it hopefully it wont effect the taste of my next fill. Just to confirm I let the screw by itself sit in a cap of old juice and it bleed in there which is weird. any sites to get replacement screws from?

Those look like computer case thumb screws, if that is the case you might find something better here

I'd contact Mom & Pops. That screw shouldn't be painted at all. It should be black chrome plate. Juice will eat paint and even powdercoat. If that screw is painted, this will not have been the first time it's happened. I can't believe any mfg would use a painted piece of hardware in this application.


You shouldn't have a big problem finding a knurled set-screw in any decent sized hardware store, but you shouldn't have to bother. They should send you a replacement. You could be seeing corrosion that ws hidden under some defective plating until it got soaked by the juice.

thanks for the quick replies there's a custom pc store near my job going to stop by and see if they have some of those screws. I just got it today and that was the first fill just wondering if anybody else came across it. I already sent an email to Mom and Pop VS I haven't and issue with them before but I'm sure they will make it right.
