Hello all. I've noticed a lot of talk about 510 atty's and Ego cartomizers. I use them both. This morning I took apart an Ego cartomizer to see how it worked. I have attached a picture of the guts (except for the white packing material)
First of all I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in the design and here is why.
The advertisments for the carto tell you it has a differently designed atomizer that runs all the way down the center of the cartomizer. Not really true....(see picture)
This is how it works...
The shiny silver piece in the picture is what you see when looking at the side of the carto that screws onto the battery, it is the center piece and makes contact with the positive side of the battery. The shiny silver metal part slips through the little rubber grey colored gromet on the top right side of the picture this prevents it from coming into contact with the metal casing, or outer wall of the cartomizer.
The little spring you see (attached to the shiny silver piece) is the actual heating element and is covered by the little white tube of fire proof insulation. So the actual heating element is no longer than that piece of white tube material when it's put together inside the carto. The black wire is soldered to the outer wall casing of the carto which is where it picks up the negative side of the battery through the screw threads.
Yes the carto holds allot more juice....but all that juice still has to find it's way to the little spring that heats up (much like a light bulb) to be vaporized..
It works... but it's fragile and it doen't run down the center the entire length of the carto as we are made to believe...
