Hey guys. So I've always been a tank person, not a big fan of drippers. But it seems everyone I meet is always bashing tanks and asking why I don't drip. I don't want to make a hobby of building coils and all that. Why is it so hard for people to understand that? Any other tankies have that problem?
Well, this is a bit like the mentality of a few mech mod users I've seen, which, I guess goes hand in hand with drippers.
Personally, I have every type of coil device (except squonks), pre-made coil tanks (which I rebuild the coil cartridge), RTAs and RDAs, and each one has a different role...
The pre-made coil type tanks are great on the go, and provide the capacity that I can have some spares in the car or such in case the old coil goes out, it's simple to switch them on the go, plus as I rebuild the cartridges, I can spend a hour or so to do a bunch, then not worry about it for a while, including for my wife and daughter's tanks, they can switch those themselves.
The RTAs offer more choices in how to build the coils, size and such. They tend to offer a bit better airflow, and with a good dual coil, they can puff quite a bit of clouds. They do need to be done right, and if something goes bad, you need your tools to rebuild or fix, something that's not the greatest on the go. As my wife and daughter don't rebuild, I have to do it for them for the RTAs that they have, which means that until I do, the tank can't be used in the meanwhile.
RDAs, for me, are more for switching flavours after a few puffs, testing DIY, and for many others, it's all about making them big cloudzzzz. I just use those at home, sometimes to pull my box of bottles and just enjoy an evening of playing with the different flavours.
Overall, it can easily become a "hobby", something I didn't plan on getting into it, and to be honest, since it's what keeps my wife and daughter from smoking, and I'm the "technical" person, I got into it for them, and part of building and such is that at some point, spending 20$ for a box of 5 coils that would barely last a week, opposed to a few pennies' worth of wire and wick that just needs a bit of time to do is quite worth it... and this includes doing our own liquids (DYI) too. So not so much a hobby, but just something to do.
I find the whole "more" flavour thing is a bit psychological at times or people using crappy tanks or might just not be able to build a decent coil on anything but an RDA... then again, a RDA deck is usually much larger, so larger coils, more liquid being evaporated, etc.
Regardless, the dripping on the go thing boggles me, I'd rather have a tank filled when I go out and vape as I go... having to stop to re-drip on the street or in the car, etc. is just...hmmm....silly to me, but if someone else wants to do it that way, it's completely their choice, but I do think that dripping while driving is as bad as cell phone use so I would not condone that sort of thing.
For your question: Sadly, yes, instead of standing together, we already have "groups" that have the superiority complex thing, but people are people and this will happen in just about anything.
I try to state anything I say with the idea of "this works for me for X and Y reasons" but many are locked into "I do this and it's the best and you should do exactly what I do!".
