Hi All, first thread on here, but I noticed when I first got my RDA that all of the flavors I loved in my tank systems (Russian 91% mainly) were different from the flavors in my RDA. I never filled a tank with fruit flavors, but love the watermelons, strawberries, apple juice, oranges, etc out of my Trident, but go more for the vanillas, deserts, etc in the tanks. I love having both set ups to be able to enjoy different vape experiences.

That said, the Trident RDA has these o-rings that are so tight that it is a hassle to take the coils in and out all the time. Thinking of pre-ordering the Zenith. Outside of that, I like dripping and tanks. Anyone have the same experience with the 2 systems being better for diff. flavor profiles?

Hi and welcome!

Definitely have had soooooo many variations on flavors thru different systems. This has been one of my frustrations with vaping technology and designs, so much inconsistency.

As you get more time (and hopefully not too much money) invested you'll find what you love in both juice and design performance. I have and what I use now hits the sweet spot for me, I have just a few set ups but everything rocks my world.

Written while on my Itaste MVP with Kanger Aerotank dual coil 2.0ohm and Murdocks MahaRas 9mg

Welcome to ECF!! :toast:

What you're experiencing is very common, the different toppers, tanks, RDA, RBA, clearos, cartos, attys will all taste just a bit different even when using the same eliquid. Throw in they all can use different ohm coils, and if you use a variable voltage mod, be driven with different voltages....the combinations are endless.....

SO many factors, some say that its because dripping gives you a truer taste. I found that most of all its the shape of your device, width, etc that affects the taste. On my large Odys I build at 1.0 ohms and on another tank that is slim and long I have to build at 1.5 to have the same TH and taste.

WIck material, resistance, saturation and shape of coils all contribute to the variances.

Every atomizer has different vape characteristics. The same exact juice when vaped in different rba's will taste slightly to drastically different. Change up the wire or style of build and or wick, yeah, she's different. In Vape, everything has an impact on everything else, concerning the final vape product.

I find no real advantage to dripping. except for testing a new juice, build, and breaking in a wick, I prefer to tank it. lol Like only having to add juice once a day.

I'm also primarily a tank user, however I do enjoy dripping at least once a day. I agree with the atty shape being a big factor. I drip mostly to mix flavors that I also like on there own like Peach and mango. I love both separately, but also love them mixed dripping lets me do that easily. I also drip Black Licorice flavor to rearrange my taste buds when things get bland. Drippers are also good for testing new flavors together. I dripped blueberry and banana and found a new flavor I like, same with strawberry and banana. IMO tanks are the way to go for the OTR vapor but I always have a dripper in my bag especially if I'm going to new vape shops.

Like others have stated, there are many variables to consider that can lead to taste differences. The main factors being your wick(s) material, of course. But the major factor is the wattage to your coils and how they actually contact your wick.

All of the carto internals i've seen have material wrapped around the coils and heated from the inside and drawn through the center. Drippers can be configured various ways, the most popular i've seen to be single/dual micro/macro coil with the wick through the coils, or under the coils.

All of these result in different flavor tones, combined with how long the liquid has been steeped, it's age, and the consistency of the juice creator.

Personally, I prefer the taste I used to get from cartos, hands down. But I just couldn't get nearly the performance from cartos that I do with drippers. So it's a matter of preference as usual. Find something you enjoy and stick with it, until it gets old to you. But, idk if you've ever tried it, but it's a pain in the a** to rebuild/rewrap a carto. They burn up and usually cost $2-$3, so yeah I did it a few times, lol.

That's what I love about the trident--I can try a few diff flavors in one night without committing to the full ~4ml in my Russian!

I do find that I get more flavor from my RDA then a tank. While I cant really say its a diff flavor it is more intense imo.
Sometimes that's not a good thing, sometimes it is. Oddly enough I find a Boge carto has a better flavor, more comparable to
a dripper, then my tanks.

Like everyone has said the variances are basically endless. The trick imo is to find what gives you your best flavor
consistently and then keep searching for something better;)
