Here are my two cents:
1. Yes, Tapatalk doesn't support a bunch of features of the new forum like formating texts in posts, ignore users properly tag following etc.
2. However, it provides a fast, easy and bandwidth friendly access to this and many other forums. I follow 8 forums right now in Tapatalk without issues.
3. Media sharing is facilitate in Tapatalk. I only have to choose a pic and click insert and it will automatically upload it to imageshare and insert a link. Yes one can argue the forum let's one upload a pic but it's a waste of resources for the forum server and limited to 1 mb. The media gallery doesn't exist (or isn't available for us mere non supporting posters - yes I barely can afford the juice I make and vape)
4. The mobile version is much improved, I agree but doesn't replace Tapatalk. I would rather use Tapatalk on a daily basis and only use the mobile version whenever I needed to make a more elaborate post.
5. No push notifications on mobile version. Tapatalk alerts you whenever there are new posts or PMs. On the mobile version I have to refresh the page. Are ECF servers ready to deal with the increased and unnecessary bandwidth?
6. Accessibility - the mobile version has tiny links and buttons. I lost track of how many times I hit "report" post instead of "like" and how many times I hit "reply" instead of "quote".
7. The mobile version isn't 100% compatible with all mobile browsers. Dolphin (one of the most advanced and popular browsers) will occasionally lock the reply text box in the middle of a lengthy post. Hence why I'm writing this from javelin. Problem is that Javelin doesn't support lastpass plug-in so now I'm going to have spend half of what could go to a ECF subscription to pay for lastpass premium to have password insertion in Javelin.
8. No 'mini' signature on mobile version. I like to sign my posts with at least my name. Now I have to write it each time I reply.
I really like the mobile version for its features but I can't see myself replying through it while I'm on the move during the day. I will honestly try to get used to it but it will take some time.
Sincerely
Tony
