If you wish to move down to 0-6 mg nic it doesn't matter how long it takes, just that you eventually reach your goal :)

When I moved down I found what worked best for me was to mix up the new and old level throughout the day for a week, gradually moving to the new lower level all day. The second week I attempted to only use the lower level but still allowed myself to vape the higher level for a few minutes if i really felt I needed it. By the third week I was fine with only using the new lower level. We're all different so just experiment with what works best for you :)

I dropped from 24 to 18, then to 12, then to 6 and now I use 3.

Of course that means that if I find a juice I like I end up buying one of 6 and another of zero and mixing them to get to 3.

I have my first order for DIY placed, hopefully I can make something vapable. If so, I may go ahead and try a small bottle of 1 or 2. Right now 0 nic isn't working for me, yet.

Then again,I never cared about "throat hit," so YMMV.

Anyone successfully taper from 24mg or above to 0-6mg? I've been vaping 24mg for a year and just dropped to 20. I've been pretty much chain vaping, I've got a feeling this is going to take a long time.

Just be happy that 1) You aren't getting tar, or the other several hundred chemicals cigarettes have in your lungs everyday like before :), and 2) that e-liquid costs the same at 0mg as it does at 24mg :D

Since the price is the same, it means that you don't have to try and taper faster due to financial reasons.

Also, since nicotine isn't really that harmful, even more reason to do a SLOW taper.

I agree with the above poster, I think you should take your time, and don't be afraid to settle for a while , as long as you have your goal in sight :)

As for me, I love nicotine, and caffeine, and I experience no negative health consequences from either , therefore I will continue with 18mg/ml :)

Mmmm... it takes what it takes. I've dropped from 36 to 12/10 with occasional dabs into 6. If I stay at 12/10/6 forever, or if I go lower or to nothing, it doesn't matter.

I don't smoke... that's what matters.

I rather like this strategy, I'm going to try it. I am switching from 18mg to 12mg rather soon.

I am in total agreement of this statement. I have tried to lower from 18mg I've been doing it for about 4 months total. I just can't get off of the 18 and I'm totally ok with that. Some day, maybe I'll lower but now I'm a happy little chipmunk vaping away. I'm just much more shocked to have stopped smoking cigarettes.

I started with 24 and am now at 12mg

I keep a bottle of the strong stuff for mornings, and other needful moments (pooping), but use the 12 throughout the day.
I plan to get to 6, I've been just going lower in jumps- like I dropped my nic level to 18, and probably chain-vaped like crazy for a week or two. then when it got back to normal use I dropped again to 12. currently coming out of the chainvape phase with that, so I will drop again in a week or so.

I'm continuing to drop, just because I like the idea of being at zero someday. The way it's working for me is stepping down during the day. Started at 18 all day. eventually got to 18 just in the morning 12 in the afternoon and 6 at night. Now I don't need the 18 at all anymore. 12 in the morning, 6 at night. I assume at some point I won't need the 12 anymore either.
Doesn't mean everyone should make the drop, that's just how it's working for me. :)

I tricked my body into going lower. I would have two different levels of the same liquid. I wouldn't pay attention to which one I grabbed to refill with. The next order I would buy the lowest of the two. By the time I got to the new bottle, I was basically used to the lower nic. After a while, the higher nic tasted harsher.

I started out with 18 & 24mg in September (1 year ago!) I'm now down to 9mg.

With that said, everyone is different (thank goodness ;) ). What works for one person doesn't always for another. Isn't it grand that we have that choice? To do it in a way that works for us, individually. If it means a higher nic for however long you want or getting down to zero.

When I started vaping 4 years ago it was at 24mg the first couple of months, then I dropped to 18mg. Shortly after my first anniversary vaping started to get harsh in the back of my throat, so I dropped to 12mg. Same thing at 2 years, so I dropped to 6mg, been there ever since, I've tried to drop to 2 or 3 mg but I start trying to breath through my PV, I can't put it down. So if I stay at 6mg for the rest of my days I'll be happy because I'm not smoking.

I started at 18mg five months ago and am now using 12mg during the day and 6mg in the evenings. I'm only buying 6mg juice now so when I use up the 12mg that I have, I'll be down to 6mg. It hasn't been difficult dropping. I'll reevaluate when I'm totally on 6mg and see if I want to drop further. I'll be happy if I stay at 6mg for a while.

I kind did what Robino said, only less organized.
I just started ordering 18 instead of 24, and I don't look to see what strength I'm vaping.
Eventually, as my inventory turns over (I had ordered a lot of stuff at 24, looking to find a few flavors to keep stocked), I'll end up on 18.

I also JUST TODAY, mixed my first DIY juice - and to my slight surprise, it's good!
So that's gonna be my new hobby, and drive my next several shopping sprees...

With DIY, of course, I can make any strength I want...18 to 17 to 14.3.

I'm not concerned, but figure - "why NOT drop the nic lower" - if it's relatively painless. It might make things like a 5 hour plane ride, or 4 hour meeting less of an annoyance...

Except for the drop from 24 to 18mg, all my decreases in nic have been by 3mg. Now that I'm in the single digit range, I think I will decrease by 1mg every other month until I get down to 6mg. I figure on staying at 6mg for about 3-4 months, then trying another drop by 1mg.

I'm lucky that my vendor will mix what I need even though it is not listed as one of the options.
