So this Friday makes 6 weeks since my last cigarette!

I've been so happy lately. After an awkward initial period I feel somewhat broken in now lol. A few things I've notices after 5 weeks of vaping.

I feel like there should be some attention focused on over-vaping or getting vaped out as I call it. Only a few days ago I realized I have a limit to how much I can vape for any given session. I wonder if others feel the same..

There are two things that happen. One a bit more serious than the other. Both are signals to take a vape break. The first is loss of throat hit. At some point between 5-10 draws the th will begin to degrade. When it is neglegable I put my Pv down for 5 minutes or so. I equate that to when my cigarette reaches the filter. Time to put it out.

The second is loss of taste. If I vape too many different flavors, too fast for too long I will loose my sense of taste temporarily. This one I try to avoid since I have to stop vaping for a few hours.

Something else I noticed is that certain juices taste better for certain methods of inhalation.
There are some juices I feel like I can almost chew on lol. Those are the type I tend to draw into my mouth and directly out my nose without inhaling or French inhale. Others I don't like to do this with and would prefer a deep draw and normal exhalation. Some I like to exahle through my nose and some through my mouth.

Do you feel this way too?? I am curious.

Anyway I am very happy. After trying a few different products and many juices I have settled on my kgo/smok dual coil Mega carto and juices from atomic vapors. I just love everything they make especially nuke juice which is my favorite so far. I just got another 30 ml today infact.

Thanks! Pete

First thing to try is drink more water, it should help the TH and a bit on the taste. Although the taste loss is normal for two reasons, your taste buds are still recovering from smoking, and then you're overloading them with a bunch of (strong?) flavors constantly. The water will help, and putting your PV down for a few minutes (I know, heresy :)) will also help.

I spent some time smoking and vaping at the same time. This allowed me to learn how nicotine from a cigarette tastes and how I feel when the nicotine hits my system. Yes, after 35 years of smoking I had to learn this. Then I learned how to recognize the same signals from vaping my nicotine juice.

Bottom line. I used to smoke 30 cigarettes a day at .8mg nicotine per cigarette. That works out to 24mg nicotine a day.

It took 2ml of 24mg juice per day to get me off cigarettes entirely. That's 48mg of nicotine a day. The first three days on vaping with no cigarettes were not easy. 24mg of nicotine from smoking tobacco does not equal 48mg of nicotine from vaping. My vaping was a lot less efficient at delivering nicotine than smoking. My switch to vaping was uncomfortable for two reasons: I was getting less nicotine than from smoking and I was getting none of the other addictive substances that accompany nicotine in tobacco tar.

So, the first rough days were worth it. Now I vape only. I don't smoke at all. I still get nicotine but at a smaller amount than while I smoked. That's a plus.

Yes, drinking water helps. So does getting plenty of sleep, improving diet and getting more daily exercise. Walking at least five miles a day helps me.

I really don't know what throat hit means.

Things I know...

1. The temperature of the vapor is important. To cool is too weak, too hot is too harsh. I tried a couple of cartomizers with different resistances before settling on what I liked with my 3.7V regulated E-Power 14650.

2. Nicotine has a taste.

3. There are physical and mental reactions to smoking a cigarette. The feelings could be a feeling of warmth like a blush or a cooling of the palms of the hands. It could be general feeling of relaxation and a lifting of stress or a increase in mental alertness. Learn what these reactions are with you and look for the same response while vaping. When you get approximately the same response as you did from smoking a cigarettes then put the PV down. If you smoked every hour or every 45 minutes, take a vaping break at the same interval.

No, I don't inhale the vapor to my lungs. I take the vapor into the mouth and throat and exhale slowly through the nose. It works for me. I used to inhale with cigarettes.

Throat hit (TH) is a non-sequitur for me.

Congratulations, Pete! I've smoked 3-5 cigarettes a day along with vaping quite a bit for the last five weeks...yesterday was the first day I didn't smoke a single one and it feels fine. I'm using a similar set up to you - KGO with either BOGE cartos or Resurrectors.

I always drink tons of water throughout the day, maybe that's why I haven't felt the lack of sensation or other things others sometimes mention, so I ditto drinking plenty. I'm still trying lots of different juices though, and I've noticed also that after a while I can't discriminate between flavors if I switch too much. What I do is just take two to work - a sweet one and a spicy/not-so-sweet juice - and alternate only between those two.

I don't vape continuously - can't while I'm working, certainly since I do physical work and am too busy. I'll take one-two hits whenever the urge hits, maybe every 20 minutes or so. Like you, if I take too many draws in a row, it starts tasting less potent and less satisfying. It's like eating - if you're hungry, the first several bites of something good tastes wonderful and makes you feel better, continuing to eat after you're getting full doesn't feel so good.

kernelsalonpas - throat hit (TH) is that "bite" at the back of your throat when you take a drag, either smoking or vaping. For some people it's very important, for others less so, in terms of how satisfying the smoke/vape is.
