Hi All, I am new to vamping. About a month now. When I first started I loved a few menthol flavors from Avail. Now it seems like I don't taste the flavors of these anymore. I have tried a few other brands from different places and I am just not getting the taste. I would love to find a good cherry or orange flavor. Does not have to be menthol. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead for any help.

I think some people go through phases where they cannot "taste" their juices very well. They call it vapors tongue. It seems to pass in a little while. I haven't had it happen, but lots of people talk about it here. Sometimes they "reset" their taste buds with a stronger tasting juice than their regular favorites. Some people drink citrus and say that helps. Hope it goes away soon.

Hi susan.
When I was quitting, the juice that satisfied me most (and i wasn't a menthol smoker) was a juice called FOGS from a local spot. It's frozen orange grapefruit, and has a flavor in it that is similar to menthol.. it's icy without the mint.. and it gave me the perfect throat tickle, and had a potent citrus flavor that I thoroughly enjoyed. The place is called vapehq in bergenfield, NJ.. I'm sure they sell online, or you could hit them up on Facebook. I know it's not as easy to track down as the big vendors, but they make some great flavors, and that one I particularly recommend for those trying to kick the analogs.

FWIW.. take it or leave it, i get nothing out of this recommendation. I vape my DIY now.

If that recommendation is not allowed... I apologize

I've also heard drinking a cup of coffee can help with vaper's fatigue but the best way to cleanse your palette is to switch up juices to something completely different. And though I've never had them myself Mt Baker has quite a few different cherry and orange flavors and they're juices are very competitively priced I think they may be on sale at the moment. Hope this helps.

If you have multiple devices put different juices in each of them. The juice tastes much stronger when you switch. When I am at home I generally vape on 5 different flavors and change flavors every few puffs.

I've also found that different volts (I'm on a Vision Spinner) provide different flavors. Too high and it's burnt. Too low you may as well suck a straw.

Ive just went through that phase just few days ago. Hot Coffee doesnt seem to work for me, even brushing my teeth, mouth wash, and scraping my tongue. I was vaping fivepawns and I can hardly taste anything. So I changed to menthol fruit flavor, I mainly vape sweet caramel, buttery cream flavor. That seems to work. I had to force myself to vape that for the whole day, and vaping different flavors simultaneously seems to be very effective also

I got vaper's tongue (aka, olfactory fatigue) about a week after I started vaping. That lasted a week or so and then went away. Nothing I did made it better, so it just had to work itself out. It just depends on your body, but it will fix itself eventually. If you have some juice flavors that you don't like very much, now is a good time to vape them ;) .

I haven't found a good cherry yet, although I haven't looked too hard. My local shop's black cherry is incredibly medicinal and tastes like cough syrup (which I suppose makes sense, since they use pharmaceutical flavorings in a lot of their flavors.) Their orange creamsicle is utterly foul and one of the worst juices I've tried. I really like orange creamsicles, but this juice tastes nothing like it ("orange penicillin" would be more accurate.) I made it through about five puffs before my gag reflex kicked in, so the bottle has been hanging around in my cabinet for a while now and I'm trying to figure out a way to salvage it. But it's only a 10mL bottle, so not a big waste; always get the smallest bottle if you can't taste it first, for this exact reason!

I'm sure there are better cherry and orange flavors out there, I just haven't tried enough juices myself to recommend any.

Hi Susan, and welcome to ECF! A truly good orange or cherry flavor can be difficult to find. Most straight orange flavors taste like bad Tang to me, and most cherry flavors are waaay to sweet for my taste, but there is the operative words; my taste. You may find that you like them. I suggest that you find a B&M with a flavor sampling bar so you can try some different stuff and find out what you like. If you have bored taste buds, try something like watermelon or strawberry. Both of those are very strong flavor profiles, but again they tend to be on the sweet side. Finding a juice you really like is the hardest part of vaping.

Hi Susan, and welcome.

Smoking affects your sense of taste, so you will find that as your body recovers from smoking that your preferences will change. I hate some of the juices I enjoyed at first. They did their job and got me off cigarettes, but I've thrown away a few half-used bottles. It's been almost 2 months now and the changes seem to have settled down now.

Your best bet is probably to buy a selection of juices in small bottles and experiment to find what suits you. Ultimately you will end up wasting some money at the beginning, but once you work out what suits you, you will be able to start saving money.

Citrus and black cherry sometimes cause a problem with cracking plastic tanks, though ordinary cherry should be OK. But if you're trying those flavours, then just be careful to use them in glass tanks for safety.

Good luck with finding something you like!

it's funny but I smoked menthol for 50 years. When I started vaping 2 months ago I started with menthol. It was good for a while. But since I've tried new flavors I can't seem to go back to the menthols. Maybe you just need to branch out and try new flavors.
there are so many out there I am sure you could find a few that are satisfying. good Luck. :)

Could be the infamous "vaper's tongue" where your taste buds seem to go on strike for a few days. No one is sure what it is exactly nor why it happens but it passes.

Here's an article I found that has some good info: http://www.ecigarettedirect.co.uk/ashtray-blog/2014/03/vapers-tongue.html

You can try some of the suggestions but nothing worked for me except to wait it out. Mine went away in about a week and never happened again.
