Olfactory receptors inside the uppermost part of the nose contain special cells that help you smell. They send messages to the brain. They work together with your taste buds to create the true flavor of that yummy ejuice by telling the brain all about it!

On inhale you will notice your tongue kind of curls up and you will keep the vapor in a pocket inside the mouth from the receptors, if you inhale with your tongue flat you will notice more flavor.

You could also be missing a lot of taste buds if you have been smoking for a long time. You also lose taste buds as you age.

What juice are you using? mg/ml?
Can you taste it first thing in the morning?
I'm in flavour heaven until I have my coffee, then it gets masked and lost in my mouth.
I tend to get the flavour back after a few olives and a sip of water...if only for a few pulls.
I also find if I chain vape on one device for too long I loss the depth of flavour in the juice. I will switch devices or drop to a simple tobacco juice for a bit to reset my palate.

Also heard that pulls on the left side of the mouth/tongue are more flavourful. (I vape left handed and don't notice a decrease when using the PV straight in or on the right.... :2c:)

Good luck
I

Well there are a few factors I've discovered with tasting juices.

1. Is the regeneration of taste buds and vaper's tongue. New vapers--IE those who've just switched and been vaping exclusively for two months or less--will have problems tasting their juice. This is due to two factors. First smoking destroys taste buds. They will grow back it takes about a month maybe two for them to be replaced. The other is vaper's tongue and can be solved in a number of ways.

2. Vaping juices with similar flavor profiles also can cause what I call "bored tongue". I have noticed that if I vape the same juice day in day out with little variation I can't taste my juice. Generally speaking there are four major taste receptors on the tongue. Sweet, Sour, Bitter, Salty. On top of that the mouth itself can percieve various sensations--cold (like menthol) and hot (like chili peppers or cinnamon).

If you vape a pretty consistant sweet vape your tongue will get bored with sweet and will go on vacation. I recomend that everyone should try to find at least four juices that they can have on regular rotation. A sweet vape, a sour or bitter vape (like a strong tobacco or a citrus), a hot vape (cinnamon usually) and a cold vape (menthol or a mint candy). I also will throw in a alcoholic beverage vape. I'm rather fond of Voodoo Cola by Upstomp which to me tastes like Rum and Coke. (I'm also quite fond of Rum and Coke anyway--cocktail of choice actually.)

3. In my experience the higher the nicotine content of a juice the less well you can taste the flavor. It is my hypothesis that the nicotine numbs the palate a bit.

4. Using palate cleansers and drinking water helps with tasting one's juice. I've found that I can't taste my juice at all if I'm even slightly dehydrated.
