Tasting the Metal?

When running low of nicotine cartos the other night, I resorted to Pomegranite - one of the free samples V4L threw in with my order. (I think this is the most revolting flavour I have tried. Honest, I was holding my nose so I wouldn't taste it, but the smell wouldn't go away afterwards) When I thought it was finished out of curiosity I peeled off the carto 'skin' to see what was underneath. The rubber top also came out, so I looked inside then put the cap back on. Then I made the mistake of puffing on it again. It tasted really metallic, I guess cos the skin was gone.

All well & good, except now every vape I can taste metal. I don't taste it eating food or anything. Perhaps it was always there but the above experience made me notice it.

Anyone else taste metal when they vape?

No, but I do get hints of the binder/extender (whatever the VG/PG is used for)...sometimes overwhelmingly strong in a new or freshly filled cart. I also taste it when the cart is about to run dry. My suggestion is keep a small notebook of what you like and what composition it has...VG, PG or the mixture of the two and what kind of cart it is in. Oh, yes, keep track of nic level, too I know it sounds like a lot of work but it might indicate that one cart is better for you and one or two of the mixes works best. I thought I had made a lot of mistakes in my early orders but it was simply trying to adjust between wow vs cool cart and VG, PG, and VG/PG. Put away anything you don't like and try it again much later...so many things I hated in the beginning are now finding their way to the top of my list As for the continuing metallic taste, that could be association. You tasted it when vaping and your mind thinks you should still taste it and it sort of "fills in the blank" Try peppermint, if you have it, or some other exotic flavor to sort of "reset" your "mind set" That's a shrink joke...uh, we're not very funny, are we??

I did the same thing, took off the wrapper and took a hit. I'm ocpd, and the wrapper was peeling, so I had to remove it.
I didn't get a chance to taste the metal because I burned the heck outta my lip. There are some mistakes that we just have to learn the hard way.
I'm with Kanza in that the metal taste is probably an association. It's like cringing at aluminum if you've ever touched a piece to your a filling or uncontrollable convulsions when looking at a 9-volt battery, recalling the first time you ever touched one to your tongue. And Kanza, no comments about my oral fixations, you being a shrink and all..."reset your mind-set" is that cbt?

Get a delrin DT,that way theres no metal touching your mouth,its all in your head anyways.lol

I agree with keyz, I use a delrin dt (its black if you go to order it) I have the assorted aluminum and every time i use them i taste the aluminum. All in my head, because my wife doesn't, she loves the metal dt.

I have two delrin dts on order, in fact they should be here today. I had to find another supplier since V4L has been out-of-stock (I feel rather like a traitor). I know I wouldn't like the aluminum ones (even though they are prettier).

Actually I like the metal ones...except when it's cold outside and I'm in it.....there is no metal taste with the aluminum DT's....actually I find the finish on them smoother as I have had some rough spots on the delrins, but a nail file takes care of those

I do however use the delrin on the wow carts or on the pt.....

It probable does not matter now, but I think v4l has put the delrin in the same place as the other dt's you just have to choose black as the color.

No, the aluminum apparently now also comes in black. I ordered a complete set of aluminum and got a black one. I thought they threw in a delrin as a bonus, but it's a black aluminum. I just used it for the first time. Imagine my surprise.

I thought that sounded demented! How would anyone figure that out! I went over to the site to see if they put the delrin in with the alum..nope.
I don't use drip tips often but when I do it has to be delrin.
I like the colored ones in the short size..hint hint Steve!

I don't know if it is all in my head, but something is messing with my taste buds. After dinner last night I decided to try the much praised Cognac carto. I was really looking forward to it, but I only took a couple of puffs because it tasted like ...........

Okay, things are seriously scrambled in my tastebuds now. I was vaping on my PT in the car this arvo and had to change direction quickly so left PT in my mouth, when I caught a whiff of ... strawberry.
Now this was a freebie came with last order, labelled "Cool Cart Cool" It is menthol, definitely menthol. But having somehow perceived strawberry, my brain is searching for that flavour every puff - and finding it, along with a hint of freshly mown grass.

Do you think this is like wine tasters or perfume sniffers? Their senses can get confused if they taste/sniff too much. Have I been overdoing all the sampling?

I want the cognac to taste like cognac, or port, or anything except pomegranite!

katz...there's probably a physical reason for it, I can think of a dozen (well, almost that many). Keep your choices to a couple for now and then add things one-at-a-time. Drink lots of water between vaping sessions, as well as during...brush your teeth and/or tongue...gargle with a mild mouthwash and then gargle with water after a vaping session. But it sounds like it could be nasal as well

The mind...a cruel mistress...it is an old test to hold chocolate under someone's nose and give them an onion to eat. You'd be amazed how many people think they are eating candy

Well, I do like the aluminums, but it was a shock to find aluminum between my teeth when I was expecting delrin! It's all good, though, now that I know the black aluminum is part of the set that I ordered.
