I'm getting burnt/dry taste after only 2 days of use on the carto and then I have to toss.
juice is tobacco and banana cream pie. Both kind of thick.
I've tried alot of experimenting with different techniques to curb this.

Also I noticed after I took the filler out I could dry burn the coil till red hot but then
I looked at the wick it was wrapped around it was charred black..

I feel like I'm getting this flavor from gunk on the coil.

Any help appreciated :2cool:

Ive ruined a couple go-carts just letting them run too dry. you've got to keep them wet, and if your using thick juice you've got to make sure it gets all the way to the bottom. try using a syringe a go slowly. ive noticed on my prefilled menthol carts from cigeasy that the taste starts to get funky far before the vapor production is reduced.

I had the same issue with TV Pecan Pie, BB Cheesecake and some coffee/caramel flavor, as well as FSUSA Apple Pie. These seem quite sugary and if the coil gets dry-ish the sugar seems to want to caramelize quite readily. Keeping the coil wet IS key. But these juices are a bit thicker as well and if you're hitting it hard you could runa bit dry. It only seems to take a hit or two with these juices to get some buildup on the coil. Actually had the same sort of issue with eGo and 50 atty/cart combo as well, but it was easier to burn through.

I have had great success with removing carto filler and cutting it so that it is a perfect square, which makes it less dense when you roll it up to reinsert. Helps a great deal with these juices, as the liquid is not suspended quite as firmly. But I'd also like to caution that this method may conversely cause issue with the thinnest juices not holding as well

I seen one of your posts about removing some of the filler Les and i wanted to message you but I didn't have enough post too.
The TV Tobacco is killing my cartos.I used about 10 in 3 weeks trying different things whereas I see people getting up to a month on one carto!Tobacco taste so awesome to me I want to keep smoking it but if I cant find a solution i won't be able to..

But basically I took the filler and tore 1/2 of it away and reinserted(got the idea from your post) and added some 100proof vodka to my juice and I'm going to see how long it lasts this time.

But I'm curious about dry burning the coil.It seems a good way to clean up the coil but then the wick burns.
Not a very durable wick compared to some high end cartos?Or will I not taste the effects of charred wick with clean coil and new clean filler?

TV is my favorite juice but I feel this is where my problems coming from...

Les I'm having problems dry burning. It leaves horrible taste.I've tried washing it out multiple time and still very strong(garbage carto!)Think you could give me quick rundown on how you dryburn yours?

If i can get the dryburning down I'll be very confident on my carto cleaning :)

P.S. I've decided to switch juice vendors.Waiting on my BWB order.

First make sure you removed the carto filler!! Just checking, but ya never know....

Rinse empty carto tube thoroughly with very hot water to remove all loose and gummy juice.
Shake and blow to pretty much dry out the carto tube as best as you can.
Install empty carto on fresh battery and burn by holding button until cutoff...I usually do this about 5 to 7 times.
After each burn I blow into carto to clear any steam (which normally starts after 2nd or 3rd burn) as well as to aid in drying.
Around 3rd, 4th or 5th burn you will start to see the coil glow red.
Now on subsequent burns you should start to smell a musty burnt smell. All burns prior to this are mostly drying - the smell indicates that you are now working on burning off anything left on the coil.
By about the 7th burn you should see the coil getting red pretty quickly and any smoke will start to be less.

Now that dry burns are complete, re-rinse the carto tube to remove any ash/junk that would still be left in there. Dry well, reinsert dry filler, refill juice and GoGo

DISCLAIMER: If you pop your carto coil doing this, don't blame me. So far I have several times done as many as 10 TOTALLY dry burns one after another with no problem. BUT that doesn't mean it can't happen, and probably will sooner or later. You do this at your own risk, but so far my experience is that the risk is worthy.

Also, the number of burns required will vary on your battery voltage, your cartos level of dryness at the start, as well as how bad the coil is gunked. You'll get a feel for it after doing a few. My experience shows that more than 7 burns leaves you with diminishing returns and likely increased risk, so I usually stop at or before 7...but I have had some that were done after 3 burns, some took more.

That carto that you say is stanky...that's a good one to try this with. make SURE you remove filler and clean it very good. Also make sure your dry burns go until the battery cuts out. I know this can be stressful but only prolonged heat will do the trick.

And after done, remember to re-rinse the carto tube to remove leftovers.

Everything is good now! Thanks so much Les!Now i just need to find a new filler i can buy to put in myself..

Fluval works very good for thick juices. I packed mine very loose on a cleaned carto for some extra thick juice I have. It only took 25 drops but the wicking was very good and it refilled good also.
