Depends if you like to creep up to temp or have it ramp up right away. I adjust my wattage to the size of the coil. It's pretty relative to what I used in power mode with same size coils even tough ohms are way lower.

There is a huge difference when I use SS in wattage mode, and TC mode. In wattage mode the coil would keep getting hotter and hotter until I was done with my pull (5 or so sec.). With TC mode I can take a nice long pull and know that it will stop getting hot to the point I set the temp at, and that makes a HUGE difference for how I vape. I'm still using the same wattage in temp. mode that I did in wattage, but keep the temp. where I like it.

Only reason I have 4 is that I won my first and was so pleased with it that I bought a second one. Then won a $50 store credit and got my 3rd from that. Then stumbled on a full kit for $9 on Fleabay and couldn't pass it up even tho I know it's a gamble. Hope it actually shows up in the mailbox.

Maybe I'll sing a different tune when my Baby Alien gets here and I can finally give TC a try, but I don't get why people care about the wattage setting. The way I understand TC mode, the device should use all the watts it has available to get the coil up to temp, and then throttle back the wattage automatically to maintain that setting. You don't need to tell it how many watts to use, you just tell it what temperature you want and it takes care of the rest. How can it maintain your temperature setting if you're dictating how many watts to use the whole time? Do I not understand how TC works?

I honestly have no idea how TC works. And don't really care. I've read plenty of explanations about it in this forum. Probably about 6 different explanations as is the norm with everything ya read in here.

All I know is the simple instructions I was given on setting it up. Choose my wire setting, set the watts a bit higher than my norm and find my temp. Bingo, I'm loving TC.

An example of the answers ya get around here. I asked if the watts can be adjusted in TC on the AL85. Answer #1 From an owner of the device... No, it's just like my current Smok device, can only adjust hit strength. Answer #2... from another owner... Yes you can adjust watts in TC to whatever you want. Pffffffftt!

I do notice in wattage mode once I was done taking a pull I would hear a sizzle with the coil, and with TC mode that doesn't happen.

The only problem I have is my boreas tanks dont sit flush on the 2/3's and my billow tanks don't sit flush on the 200s'. Either tank sits fine on the g2's. This reminds me I need to finally order some more billow v3+'s.

Um no, going to subohm is going to a different style of vaping typically. It's not "graduating" at all. It's more like "lookie.. big clouds.... weeeee" lol

I was at 24 MG when I started David but how many ML's of your 24 do you vape a day. Last nigh I vaped 3 5ML tanks in 3-4 hours of my 3MG so that was 45MGs.

In TC, can I still get a burnt hit from over-vaping? That's different than the dry hits TC is good at preventing, correct?

I was thinking about getting some TC Triton SS coils for my big Nautilus. Not really sure I can handle it as I mtl at 7.5W.

I think the TC success depends entirely on your personal style of vaping. I have tried 316L with several different mods and rta's and simply don't like it. I always wind up going back to my Kanthal builds. The real nightmare was trying to use single coil 316L build on my DNA 75. That was a disaster. Some of my other mods handle it pretty well but for my style it is not worth the effort and ramps up too fast even though all my mods allow for setting the wattage in tc mode. When using 316L on single coil atomizers if I make the coils to a comfortable size then I am in sub ohm due to the nature of ss. I typically vape 1 ohm plus so it is just not worth the effort for me. On some dual coil builds I was able to get a decent vape with 316L but I found myself trying to duplicate my experience with my Kanthal builds. It's all personal taste. I keep at least four rta's in rotation and I can change a Kanthal build in five minutes to my liking with tc builds it is a big production. Not worth the effort for me.

In wattage mode, I used 26 guage kanthal, 2.5 mm contact dual coils, 7 wraps each. It reads .38 to .4 ohms and I vape it at 40 to 45 watts. With TC I use 24 guage SS 8 wraps spaced dual coils and vape it at 55 Joules with SX or 50 watts with DNA at 400 degrees Farenheit. So far it's the closest I got to kind of vape I get with kanthal.

I been kanthal committed now for my entire 4 years of vaping and building, not even thinking about other wire types or hassling with them. I've had a IStick TC100 for well over a year now and never left power mode. I won some wire in a contest a few weeks back with several spools of SS and claptons with SS were in the prize. Did a bit of TC research, confused the hell out of myself with this new TC jargon. I then built a 26 spaced SS build, set up TC the best I could and OMFG it was the best vape ever, the claptons ...even better. I then discovered and installed ArcticFox onto my Istick and the vape quality got even better. I'm now playing with power curves and have many more spools of SS on order. Just like DIY, I'm kicking myself saying why didn't I start this sooner.
Vaping SS in TC is unbelievable and for those who haven't tried it yet.....your missing out on a new level of vape nirvana.

When using 316L on single coil atomizers if I make the coils to a comfortable size then I am in sub ohm due to the nature of ss. I typically vape 1 ohm plus so it is just not worth the effort for me.

When I make a kanthal coil with 28g, 8 wraps I get about 1.5 ohms... building with SS 28g, 8 wraps I get .8 ohms. I get the exact same vape from both even though the resistance is not the same. I keep my mod settings the same for both wires. The only time it would vape different is if I was using an unregulated mod where the resistance would be dictating the power.
